The Beginning of the End of the Democratic Party
June 25th, 2004
Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe believes that President George W. Bush sent American troops into battle in Afghanistan at the behest of the Unocal Oil Corporation, so that it would be able to build a pipeline there to carry oil from Caspian Sea wells drilled by Dick Cheney's Halliburton. Michael Moore told him so, in his new movie, Farenheit 9/11. We learn about McAuliffe's epiphany in Byron Yorks June 24 article on National Review Online. McAuliffe tells York,
I believe it after seeing that.
Oh? If Moore had made a film chasing Neil Armstrong around with a camera and microphone, positing that Apollo 11 landed in a desert rather than the surface of the moon, would McAuliffe believe that, too? McAuliffe added to York that citizens who see the movie would be convinced that Bush is not fit to be President.
Is this really what has become of the Democratic Party? Is Michael Moore the arbiter of the truth for these people? Senators such as Tom Daschle, Ernest Hollings, and Debbie Stabenow joined Congressmen Charles Rangel and Hussein homeboy Jim McDermott at the Farenheit 9/11 premier. York quoted Sen. Tom Harkin:
Its important for the American people to understand what has gone on before, what led us to this point, and to see it sort of in this unvarnished presentation by Michael Moore.
Harkin thinks the public needs Michael Moore to explain why we are at war?
The depth to which the Democratic Party has sunk is astonishing.
Nearly 44 years ago President Kennedy promised to pay any price, bear any burden to protect the homeland and the free world from aggressors. That was followed by President Carters bold declaration that we should put on a sweater and turn down the thermostat, President Clinton turning the White House into a personal brothel, and now a presumptive nominee who doesnt show up for work, and is most effective when staying out of sight with his mouth shut.
The most effective elected Democratic voice is that of President Kennedys youngest brother. He will have his day of honor during the convention, when it opens on the 35th anniversary of his court date for leaving the scene of an accident.
The Democrats new call to arms comes from Moore, a filmmaker with a questionable ability to distinguish between fact and fiction, and who employs clever editing to ridicule his opponents. It is only a matter of time before Moores own tactics are used against him. The great advocate of the working man once fought an attempt of his employees to unionize, and will not suffer the indignity of an ambush interview, a technique he has exploited repeatedly.
But what of the Democratic Party? It is important to have a serious political organization to provide opposition to conservatives, thereby sharpening political arguments, and giving voters a clear choice. America needs a competition of between legitimate ideas coherently argued, and it needs its major parties to be serious about protecting the United States from its obvious enemies.
The Democratic Party is quickly becoming a parody, led by bitter, screeching fools who cannot come to grips with the fact that a duly elected President is boldly leading the fight against those who would destroy us. They cannot see past their own lust for power, and want power only for its own sake. They cant or wont recognize that the President is betting his political life on doing what is right. Its a foreign concept to them.
The leadership wont even listen to one of its own, Zell Miller, when he warns of the partys impending demise. They have nothing to offer except their rage, pessimism, and tired proposals. If the party is not saved from the likes of McAuliffe, the Clintons, and their dimwitted imitators, it will cease to exist, sooner or later.
There is a faint hope for the party in such persons as Rep. Harold Ford of Tennessee and Barack Obama, their nominee for the Senate in Illinois. These two are the opposite of the current leadership dynamic and smart, as well as unwilling to merely step back and call the Republican Party names, or see how much horse manure they can throw at the wall until some of it sticks. Both also have a demonstrated record of being able to actually work with political adversaries to get things done. It is doubtful they would be so stupid as to argue that Michael Moore is somebody who should be taken seriously. The Democrats would do well to put these two out front and find others like them if they exist. Otherwise, its curtains. And America loses.

The Democrats Party is at the mercy of the far radical left fringe of its party. After the 2004 election, the Democrat party will be broken into smaller fragments than it already is.
Maybe this is what Hillary had hoped for? This would be her opportunity to be the Democrat Party's "savior". She has the media and the party's politcal hacks on her side.
Someone send him a copy of Capricorn One ("starring" O.J. Simpson) and let's find out.
This is why it is absolutely reasonable and logical to believe that the only reason the dems insist that there was NO coneection between 9-11/OBL and Iraq/Saddam is because an investigation of that connection would lead to proof that Clinton and Gore and McAuliffe got huge amounts of oil voucher cash from Saddam in return for leaving OBL while he was planning 9-11.
If Obama and Ford are the best the dem party can do for saviors, then they're already over.
Someone else's opinings: That Moore's movie shouldn't help Kerrey at all, because Kerrey's position on the war is so close to Bush's. The opinion expressed was, that Moore's movie should help Nader more than Kerrey.
When I heard that I remembered Kucinich. Moore's anti-war movie should help him most of all...but "Where In The World Is Carmen Kucinich"?
Thus far, only the Republican Party is serious about National Defense. But the 800 pound gorilla in the room is the gimme voters who could elect Kerry to the White House.
"There is a faint hope for the party in such persons as Rep. Harold Ford of Tennessee and Barack Obama, their nominee for the Senate in Illinois."
Correct. It is only a faint hope. And domineering white females like Pelosi and Hillary Clinton will make G/D'd sure that these two minority males will remain a faint hope.
One would think, that after Moore got busted for all sorts of falsehoods (Flat out making stuff up)in the Columbine movie....all the people coming out and saying that they have never spoke to Moore and are upset because the fat canadian said he had quotes from those folks...after already be busted for sleazebag editing(kinda like abc, cbs, nbc, cnn, msnbc) and falsehoods in his current movie...that folks would know better than to claim any of Moore's hogwash as a credit worthy story line. Now I realize that the main stream of the democrat party these days seems to be an breed line of complete idiots, but even an idiot knows to start ducking after being hit in the head with a shovel 55 times!
Already planning the 2008 campaign with Grandfather Twilight, perhaps?
Yes, just showing the crackpot side of the left can make the right look good. Just see the latest ad at http://www.georgewbush.com/ - "pessimism and rage" won't win.
There is a faint hope for the party in such persons as Rep. Harold Ford of Tennessee and Barack Obama, their nominee for the Senate in Illinois.""
If the writer of the article thinks for one minute that the dem plantation masters are gonna let Ford reach any position with real leadership power in the Dem party, than he is out of his mind. Ford seems like an honest man...but the elitist dems won't let him be anything other than window dressing. If Ford was smart, he would align himself with Lieberman. Other than that, Ford can look forward to just doing FNC interviews and hoping a few democrat voters wake up. His only other choice is to be an anti-American joke like Rengal.
The democrat party has been taken over by a foriegn entity and is hellbent on destroying the fabric of America.
"Where In The World Is Carmen Kucinich"?
nice pick.
the democratic party and reality are definitely not on the same sheet of music anymoore.
sorry about the pun, I can't help.
And don't forget Mr. Streisand!
Its important to remember that most of the democrat party "coalition of the wild-eyed" came into punditry and/or organizational prominence trying to validate the Clinton administration. Moveon.org was originally formed as a propoganda arm to save his butt from impeachment.
The democrat party is wholly wedded now to the frothign at the mouth radicals. I sometimes believe that these '60s radicals are forming the battle line at what they see as the last stand in the radical political beliefs. They took for granted that they were going to win the war of Americans' hearts and minds 30 years ago. Then they became preoccupied with disco, cocaine and other assorted self indulgencies. Now they are trying to make up what they see as squandered time with a vengeance. Hence the wild-eyed, desperate behavior.
No. When it's curtains for the Democrat party, America wins.
The word you are looking for is Socialism aka Communism Lite - I makes you wonder at times if we really ever won the cold war.
Folks, when was the last time you entered a debate, in which your opponent HANDED you a perfect STRAWMAN?. WE can KILL the points made in this movie, and bring down the rest of the flaming loonies.
I have a liberal friend who said he FEARED this movie because it was too easily refutable. Well, now I realize WHY he feels that way.
Actuually, she's been the biggest reason for the crack-up of the Dem Party -- and each leader of the various umbrella orgs is not about to forget this, IMHO. She will be no "answer", no "rescuer", no "savior" to the Dem party -- they've disenfranchised and upset far too many of their usual support groups. IMHO, of course.
"The Democrats Party is at the mercy of the far radical left fringe of its party. After the 2004 election, the Democrat party will be broken into smaller fragments than it already is."
The Democratic party will adapt. It may change, but it's not going away. The two-party system is too entrenched.
I meant that I AM NOW CONVINCED that Moore has given us a tremendous opportunity.. I can't proofread on Sundays.
