CNN's Bernard Shaw: Media Failed America By Not Showing Good Side of Reagan
CNN ^ | 6/11/04

"We in the media failed the nation by not reporting these things about Reagan at the time.

"I have learned a lot about this side of Ronald Reagan...things I never new before. So I, too, have failed America."

[paraphrased]

More..

Bernard Shaw: "Can I say something that touches on a very sensitive issue? The news media, and how we failed to thoroughly cover and communicate the very essences we're talking about possessed by Ronald Reagan. What I've been reading and what I've been hearing, I did not get during his two terms in office. Or did I miss something?" Wolf Blitzer: "I think you're on to something, Bernie, uh.. "

Shaw: "I think we failed our viewers, listeners and readers to an appreciable extent. I can't quantify it, but I'll put it there. Because I certainly missed a lot."

Settle down folks, I know Bernard Goldberg. Bernard Goldberg is a friend of mine.

Bernard Shaw, you're no Bernard Goldberg.

I remember listening to Shaw speaking from at television studio in Baghad, stating "President Hussain has just walked into the room."

I also heard him speak at DePauw University a year later, when he told the crowd that as soon as he said it, he expected the bombs to land almost immediately.

The point is, at that moment, the U.S. knew exactly to the point of inches where Saddam was at. Had he been a target, taking him out would have been no trouble at all.

But remember, President George H.W. Bush repeatedly said "Saddam Hussain is not a target."

For what it's worth ...

Yes, they only build up President Reagan posthumously in order to create some negative reflection on George W. Bush. These media jackals are beyond redemption, and are incabable of any virtuous gesture.

Putin called these libs, like Matthews and Georgie Ann, out over their hypocritcal support of BJ Clinton's bombing of Kosovo, without the UN's blessing. They may rest assured that had Reagan percieved a threat from Saddam's Iraq, he most certainly would have acted.

OK, cool. Post #44 was the source of the confusion. And it was a lot more believable that it came from Goldberg, except that CNN probably wouldn't even have Goldberg on.

But, hey, welcome to the club, Mr. Shaw.

Now, what I wonder is, why they feel the need to say this. The overwhelming response to Reagan's funeral must be throwing them for a loop.

I am betting the Cubs win the World Series in straight games.

This mea culpa from Bernard Shaw is meaningless. The entire editorial staff and on air personnel of CNN should get on live television and admit that they viciously slanted their coverage becuase of liberal bias and they should further confess that on every major public policy and foreign policy issue of the 1980s that they were wrong and Ronald Wilson Regan was right.

Like a mountain that is obscured by a dust storm Ronald Regan's historic achievements in winning the cold war and turning around the economy are becoming obvious to all but the most fanatical liberals. The pygmies at CNN are now saying that they should have reported that Regan was a nice guy and a clever raconteur. This is a joke and an insult

How about sending him a message and mentioning that .. since he probably won't be around to say the same thing when President Bush leaves the earth.
