I just saw the promo. for this,full of aging Commies saying things like "they were nice people","just like you and me"and "witch-hunt.

Looks like another attempt to rehabilitate these two traitors.

Now in his early 60s, Chetwynd is a longtime naturalized American citizen who was born in England and raised in Montreal. He'd remembered from Canadian regimental history that of the 4,400-odd Canadians sent to Dieppe, about 3,600 were killed. Although they knew it was basically a suicide mission, not one man failed to report for duty. Chetwynd asked one of the old soldiers in his regiment, Sgt. Gordon Betts, why.

"My generation had to figure out what we were ready to die for," Chetwynd recalled Betts telling him. "You kids don't even know what to live for."

Many years later, when Chetwynd was a successful Hollywood writer specializing in historical dramas, he told the Dieppe story during a Malibu dinner party — as a sort of tribute to the men who died there so people could sit around debating politics at Malibu dinner parties. One of the guests was a network head who asked Chetwynd to come in and pitch the story.

"So I went in," Chetwynd told me, "and someone there said, 'So these bloodthirsty generals sent these men to a certain death?'

"And I said, 'Well, they weren't bloodthirsty; they wept. But how else were we to know how Hitler could be toppled from Europe?' And she said, 'Well, who's the enemy?' I said, 'Hitler. The Nazis.' And she said, 'Oh, no, no, no. I mean, who's the real enemy?'"

"It was the first time I realized," Chetwynd continued, "that for many people evil such as Nazism can only be understood as a cipher for evil within ourselves. They've become so persuaded of the essential ugliness of our society and its military, that to tell a war story is to tell the story of evil people."

That`s like when HBO played Oliver Stones homage to Castro "Comandante" and I happened to tune in the middle of it when he had the prisoners sitting at a table with Castro, and Stone asks them "How are you treated in prison?" and of course all of them said "Great, I am treated very fairly" One guy even saying he deserved his 20 year sentence for trying to defect to the US, and that was all I could take. The 51st anniversary of the well deserved Rosenbergs electrocution is coming up in about 3 weeks. They both died in the Sing Sing electric chair on June 19, 1953.

I remember the newspaper headlines announcing their deaths that night in the extras that hit the streets almost before Julius was pronounced dead.

But I don't think Ethel and Julius did as much damage to America's national security as did Bill and Hillary Clinton, and they still remain free.

Oh yes another Leftist piece of propaganda about the Rosenburgs.
Fact, they were both spies, Fact, they could have saved themselves if they had just cooperated and told all they knew as well who the others were in the spy ring.
The most important thing though is that they have been confirmed as spied by two unimpeachable sources:
(A) Read the book "The Sword & the Shield" by Christopher Andrew & Vasili Mitrokhin. Mitrokhin had the highest security clearance in the KGB, second only to the Chairman. He was in charge of all KGB files and over a period of years copied volumes & volumes of files that he was finally able to smuggle out of Russia when he defected. He was able to verify that the Rosenburgs were spies of the first rank and helped confirm a lot of what is known as the Venona intercepts.
(2) The defection in the 1980's of Col. Oleg Gordievsky, who at the time of his defection was the head of the KGB's London Station. During his time with the KGB Gordievsky was personally picked by KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov to write the secret history of the KGB going back to it's beginnings. Gordievsky almost surely knew Mitrokhin when he undertook this assignment. He was able to confirm that Rosenburgs were spies as he had read their files and written of them in his history of the KGB.
Of course it doesn't matter that that there is voluminous evidence of their guilt, when did the truth ever matter with these people. Well it be be a feel good program for all of the lingering Rosenburg supporters and Lefties still believing in Stalin and all his good works, like "Red" Ed Asner.

The Rosenbergs were part of extensive Soviet-sponsored spy ring that was inteneded to steal US atomic secrets. At this point in time the fact that the Rosenbergs greatly compromised US national security is incontrovertible.
