Op. Infinite Freep: Fresno Support our Troops/President Rally for 04/30/04

Twelve of us gathered on our favorite corner in Fresno tonight for a "Support Our Troops" Rally.

The weather was warm but a nice breeze helped to make it very pleasant.

The peaceniks were not on the opposite corner; it is our understanding that they only meet on the first Friday of every month. We plan to start scheduling our rallies to coincide with theirs whenever possible.

As usual, the motorists of Fresno were happy to show their support with horn honking, thumbs up and friendly waves. We did get a couple of one finger salutes but compared to the support, these incidents were almost non-existent. A couple of pedestrians stated that they had served during Viet Nam and thanked us for being there.

Tongue-tied is stationed at Lemoore Naval Air Station and has been in the military for 24 years. His son is also active duty and has served for four years. This was his first time joining us and it was a treat for us to meet him and let him know how much we appreciate our military.

As two military jets flew over, Tongue-tied jokingly said he had requested they do a flyover just for us. ; )

Nine of us went to dinner at Baker’s Square where we continued visiting and enjoying each others company

Are you going to be able to come to Fresno to join us? We will probably have our picnic in September again this year. There are too many things going on in June. Maybe you can make it up here then.

We had another really good FReep tonight. I thought the response was a little more intense than the last FReep we had - maybe because the stepped up activity in Iraq.

I did pretty good tonight soliciting the motorists to show support for our troops and I only received three love offers. I had to laugh when what appeared to be a greatgrandmother woman agressively flipped me off. Sad but very comical to see a woman that age fling me the birdie.

That sKerry guy has Flipped and Flopped so much in his own defense that I decided to make a collection - His Ammo Belt of Flip Flops

We had a visitor show up and give a hand. Mtngrl has really been missed on our corner.

Perfect weather, perfect response from Fresno, and great friends! Tonguetied was a really great addition to our corner! Having a real enlisted man in our midst was an honor. Dinner was good too, and especially since a certain freeper didn't have a glass of wine! :-)
