9/11 Freeh testimony: "fight an enemy that was using missiles"

Did anyone happen to catch Freeh say this today:

"A war footing means we seal borders. A war footing means we detain people that we're suspicious of," Freeh said.

"We were using grand jury subpoenas and arrest warrants to fight an enemy that was using missiles and suicide boats to attack our warships."

Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I don't remember any terror attacks pre-9/11 using missiles, except for perhaps TWA 800!

There's a problem with lying, you have to keep remembering what story you've told before. This puts Freeh up there with Stephanopolous for TWA 800 slips of the tongue. The recent book First Strike presents the story of FLT 800 in decidedly different terms from the U.S. Gov't., but in terms closer to Freeh's statement.

If I recall correctly Mr. Freeh now works for MBNA in Wilmington, DE, multi-billion dollar credit card company. In the months after 9/11, connections were made that Al-Quada were using money from credit cards to fund terrorism.

I recall some shoulder fired SAMs just missing an El Al flight taking off from a resort in East Africa. I think the FBI did help in that investigation.

2003-At least two missiles are fired at US Air Force aircraft landing at Baghdad airport, but miss.

2003-Three arms dealers are arrested in a sting in New Jersey for attempting to sell the first of 200 Russian SA-18 missiles to an apparent Sudanese terrorist explicitly for use against American airliners. Fortunately apparent supplier of the missile was a Russian counter-terrorist agent, the missile was intentionally inoperable, the apparent Sudanese terrorist buyer was an FBI agent, and the arms dealers are now in custody and awaiting trial.
