The point is that all of the things they are talking about already exist. There have been female-run, female-owned, female-oriented purveyors of sexually oriented merchandise for years, so it's just kind of silly for them to act as if they just invented it.

I think this is a consequence of female economic clout. Women that have an independent means of support can and will think about sex differently then women who don't have that independence. I suspect this was seen during WWII when you had large numbers of women in the workforce as well. A lot of this reduces to economics. The rest is a function of social mores and morays but they are taking their lead from the economic aspects. Technology (internet, DVD's) play a small role, but a role nonetheless.

Yes, these ladies didn't invent the idea, but I think it's good that with the internet especially women can now buy these things more discretely.
