[history]
So, no sooner does Sen. John Kerry emerge from the New Hampshire primary as the Democrats' fragile frontrunner than word gets out that ex-President Bill Clinton is flying down to Washington to plan the Democrats' return to the White House, and at this "high-level" meeting Sen. Hillary Clinton will join him. What is this all about? Are the Democratic presidential contenders not capable of sorting things out on their own? Two, after all, were coaxed into the race by the Clintons, Sen. John Edwards and Gen. Wesley Clark.

I sure hope the republicans are paying close attention because we had better rev up NOW for 2008 because they are going to pull out all the stops to get the Clintons back in the white house.

This story tells me the Dem's are not repentant. They are in love with their "progressive" views and the cash they can generate. The "think tank" is swimming with brown-nosers and apparachiks - no real thinking going on yet. This all works in favor of the GOP.

The Democratic party faithful want a firebrand like Dean. The party bigwigs will give them a Washington-insider, probably Kerry, because they will persuade the faithful that Kerry can "win in November." Wrong! Kerry is playing the role that Bob Dole played in 1996 -- a placeholder to be whipped-up on by an incumbent President. Kerry will get 46 to 48 percent of the popular vote and about 170 Electoral Votes (an off-the-cuff guess). In short, he will be soundly beaten.
The real game is in 2008.

I am keeping a watch out for confirmation that Guiliani will run against the hildebeast for her senate seat in 2006.
Rudy would cream Hillary. To dipose her early on would be an excellent move.
Rudy would make a very likely successor to Bush in 2008.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Frist is annointed, not Guiliani. But Guiliani just happens to be making the rounds of the early primary states to carry the party standard, just like Frist is when his schedule allows it.

The Clintons want the Democrat candidate for president in 04 to loose so Hillary can run in 08. However if it looks like Kerry, or who ever the nominee is, may actually win the election then Hillary will volunteer to be VP. That way she will be the good party loyalist, win or lose. If the Democrats win she will have to wait until 2012 to run (unless the Democratic president has an accident in Fort Marcy Park). If the Democrats lose in 04 she will be all set for 08. However putting her on the ticket may guarantee a loss in 04 because it would probably hurt more than help. But, if she wants it , it is hers.

Interesting read.

No, Bill and Hillary have been very busy. All that vitriol that Chris Matthews unloaded on Lehane, should have gone to the Clintons. Lehane is their man.

Hard to see what the difference would be. Rudy is testing the waters, it seems. He just leaves me kind of cold.
How to say it diplomatically... Being a real New Yorker is kind of a cultural thing, limited to NY, NJ, PA, and environs. The very diversity of NY politics molds its poiticians in a way that doesn't play as well nationally. Rudy's personal style, politics aside, doesn't have a very broad appeal across the country.
