My baby sister, Marilyn, has been hospitalized for the past week and a half. So far she has been diagnosed with sepsis, Hepatitis C which has caused liver damage and a kidney disorder. Today they did a MRI and discovered she also has a Spinal Cord Abscess:

A disorder characterized by inflammation and a collection of infected material (pus) around the spinal cord. A spinal cord abscess is caused when infection occurs within the internal areas of the spine. An abscess of the spinal cord itself is very, very rare.

Urgent surgical decompression (by laminectomy, cutting through the bones of the spine) is usually recommended. This includes drainage of the abscess. It occasionally is not possible to completely drain the abscess.

An untreated spinal cord abscess progresses to spinal cord compression that causes permanent, severe paralysis and other neurologic losses. It may be life-threatening.

The doctor says she blood is too thin, they cannot operate at this time. All prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
