An Al Qaeda web site is running a warning issued to Muslims to leave Washington, D.C., New York City and Los Angeles because of implied imminent terrorist attacks, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Why nuke Mecca? If you really wanted to make a point you would nuke "around" Mecca, leaving it intact as an historic site of some note, but prohibiting Moslems from making their pilgrimage to the place.

The pilgramage to Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims take it seriously, and in a very literal sense.

Nuking Mecca would in effect undermine one the the principal foundations of Islam, and force the the Islamic world to realize that they cannot take their faith in a fundamental or literal sense.

In any event, to quote a line from the Godfather, Part II: "We should hit them now, while we got the muscle!"

This is about the 3rd time I've seen a post relating to this.
What if some hacker got into the site and posted it?
What if our intellegence was able to get in and start screwing around with their feeble little brains?
There are hundreds of scenarios that could be played out, including, literally, a real attack.
You know what would be great? If W got on national T.V., and flat out told the muzzle population, "You mess with us again, we nuke Mekka." And leave it at that.

Sorry, simply can't support you in that. Besides, there are multitudinous Christians in those places as well as a myriad of Americans (military, businessmen, tourists, etc.)

In the long run it's better to let Moslems make the decision about whether to do the pilgrimage with the consequent risk of loss of life or not. A ring of radioactive debris around Mecca would leave it all up to them. (Besides, there are no Christians or Americans in that area ~ just Moslems).

The only logical response to a WMD attack on one of these cities is a nuclear response on Mecca, Medina, Damascus, and perhaps Qom.
