Iran said Tuesday it had conducted multiple ballistic missile tests to demonstrate "deterrent power," a move that comes in defiance of US sanctions imposed over its missile programme in January. The announcement by the official IRNA news agency said the tests showed the country's "all-out readiness to confront threats" against its territorial integrity. It described them as a military drill in which "ballistic missiles were fired from silos" in different parts of the country. The United States imposed new sanctions over Iran's missile programme in January almost immediately after separate sanctions related to Iran's nuclear programme had been lifted under...

During the late eighties I was assigned to NORAD, as a Command Director initially and later as the assistant Director of Operations for NORAD. The NORAD operation was located inside the Cheyenne Mountain complex just outside Colorado Springs, Colorado. Twenty four hours a day a team of approximately 150 highly trained individuals, lead by a Brigadier General, monitored one of the most sophisticated computer systems in the world. This system was fed data from many different sensors that were able to detect missile shots from any point on the globe. All this data was taken into consideration when making the...

TAMPA, Fla. -- A Patriot missile with its guidance system and rocket motor was found in a Tampa scrap metal yard, according to authorities. Explosives experts at MacDill Air Force Base were called to the scrap yard on July 11 to identify an odd-looking object in a heap of junk. The experts said the object was a surface-to-air missile, minus its warhead -- so it's harmless. They say it appeared to be a training model, and still had its rocket motor and guidance system. What the experts don't know is how the missile ended up in the scrap yard.

HEILIGENDAMM, Germany (AP) - Russia's President Vladimir Putin said Friday that U.S. missile defense interceptors could be located in Turkey, or even Iraq or on sea platforms, offering yet another alternative to an American plan for a missile shield in eastern Europe. "They could be placed in the south, in U.S. NATO allies such as Turkey, or even Iraq," Putin said at a news conference after the close of the Group of Eight summit. "They could also be placed on sea platforms." As he spoke, a man threw a handful of leaflets into the air, momentarily disrupting the briefing. "Outstanding....

The Hubble Space Telescope is once more having trouble with its primary camera, NASA officials said Monday. Problems related to Hubble’s Advanced Camera for Surveys apparently sent the space telescope into safe mode over the weekend, according to reports from NASA officials and the Space Telescope Science Institute, which operates the observatory for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. The telescope has since been recovered from safe mode and an investigation is under way, NASA said. Hubble should resume science activities with its remaining instruments later this week, the agency said. “It is too early to know what influences the ACS...

I heard on the radio this morning, that a pilot of a passenger jet departing LAX claimed to have narrowly avoided being hit by a missile. It was reported that the jet was about 6,000 feet in altitude & over the ocean when the event occurred. The news report further stated that authorities believe it was possibly a flare or a "bottle rocket." I googled but found nothing. Anyone else have some info on this? I dont recall whether it was CBS or NBC radio news.

http://www.therealcuba.com/Missile1A.JPG http://www.therealcuba.com/Missile2.JPG These unauthorized photos were taken by a tourist who, as he said in his e-mail to us, "sneaked out of the tourist area while visiting the Morro fortress" in Havana, Are these missiles operational? He says that he is 100% positive that they are. "They are behind the back wall. There is a military base there, as I saw jeeps approaching, I got the hell out of there pronto. It is a huge crime to photo things like that," he said. Maybe someone who is familiar with these type of missiles can identify them for us and provide...

US concerned about missile monument October 26, 2004 Posted: 14:37 Moscow time (10:37 GMT) The US intelligence services are concerned. The American satellite tracking system located a Topol-M intercontinental ballistic missile in the Russian city of Kostroma, NTV reported. A 20-meter container weighing about 10 tons and having a diameter of more than 2 meters, arrived in the Kostroma missile division from the Sverdlovsk region, where the missile system was deployed. Yury Oshkin, Deputy Commander of the Kostroma missile unit, said the plastic container contained a missile in active service. US intelligence services expressed concern why the container arrived at...

Reagan's Defense Vision Takes First Step Ground-based missile interceptor was installed Thursday in Alaska's Interior - the first component of a national defense system designed to shoot down enemy missiles. Crews at Fort Greely lowered the 55-foot-long, three-stage interceptor into one of six silos built behind a double perimeter fence reinforced by heavy barbed wire. "We're coming to the end of an era where we have not been able to defend our country against long-range ballistic missile attacks," said Major Gen. John Holly, who heads the ground-based missile defense program for the Pentagon Missile Defense Agency. Five additional interceptors will...

John Kerry's foreign policy advisor Jeffery Smith on C-Span: Oh I get it. A prime element of Kerry's plans for the military as just revealed by his foreign policy advisor Jeffery Smith is to shift money within the military to pay for 40,000 additional troups. The money would come from programs like missle defense. Ahhhh. Click. Anything to keep us from defending our selves in the future. If he can't cause the US to lose now at least he can hope to set the stage for future failure. Viva la France, n'est pas, M. Kerry?

NEW DELHI -- Tae Min Hun, the dour captain of the North Korean freighter Kuwolsan, glared icily from the bridge as tempers around him soared in the midday heat. On June 30, 1999, as customs agents in India's northwestern port city of Kandla waited impatiently to board the vessel, Tae received urgent instructions from Pyongyang: At all cost, let no one open the cargo boxes.

Suppose North Korea fired a nuclear missle at Tokyo, and a battleship with a EMP cruise missle or the likes fired it at the incoming missle. What would happen? I don't mean to go tin hat on you guys, however, if this occured what do you think would occur? Could America destroy the missle? America has an amazing arsenal of secret weapons, and it seems ridiculus (sp) to imagine an Aurora to fly from Area 51 to kill a missle with an EMP in 8 minutes, but what could America do? Strategists, fire away.
