The mistake both sides are already making in the 2020 election
The Week ^ | August 29, 2019 | Edward Morrissey

Posted on 09/02/2019 3:28:40 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In 2007 and 2008, Barack Obama put together a groundbreaking campaign structure that took him from freshman-senator obscurity to the presidency in less than two years. Obama used the same campaign structure to survive a serious challenge in 2012, winning a second term with fewer votes than the first, the only time that's happened in the modern era. His masterful use of grassroots volunteers, social media targeting, and ground-up messaging should have charted a path to the presidency for everyone who followed him.

Yet more than a decade later, it's an open question as to whether either major party has learned anything from Obama's success. That will matter to both presidential candidates in the same battlegrounds that decided the 2016 election — when neither candidate took advantage of Obama's innovations.

Democrats have begun to raise the alarm publicly this week. Anonymous DNC officials told The Daily Beast's Hanna Trudo that "President Trump is crushing us" in battleground states. Jim Zogby, co-chair of the DNC's ethnic counsel, went on the record to criticize DNC chair Tom Perez for allowing the party to ignore "voters from Irish, Italian, Polish, Eastern Central European, Arab, and Armenian-American communities highly concentrated in the Midwest." The Trump campaign has already begun "carpet-bombing Ohio online," state party chair David Pepper complained. "Donald Trump is in general election mode while we're still in primary mode."

The first part is complete hogwash.
Brennan acting on behalf of the Deep State got rid of inconvenient documents and people that might have caused problems for the Kenyan from Indonesia and the GOP provided the perfect Designated Loser for each of the sham elections of 2008 and 2012.

His (Obama’s) masterful use of grassroots volunteers, social media targeting, and ground-up messaging should have charted a path to the presidency for everyone who followed him.

More like Obama’s masterful use of the FBI to spy on the Republican candidate. (You can bet 2016 wasn’t the first time.)

Except that Obama did not have much competition in either 2008 or 2012.

McCain was barely drawing crowds of 200. Romney was about as exciting as paint drying.

JimZogby is part of the inner DNC and they wonder that we don’t believe polls like Zogby?...

It’s useless as soon as he uses “both sides”. The new left’s mistake is wanting us dead or enslaved. Our mistake is not pointing that out enough to moderates.

Not from what I hear.

Trump is out raising, out organizing anything he did in 2016. I was at a GOP event in northern AZ two months ago and one of the guys said he signed up more precinct committeemen in one day than he had the entire previous election cycle.

I think Morrissey felt compelled to put in “but Trump is failing too” as a means to get this piece published.

Announcing a white house led gun control package was telling the world 2A is history and the people will vote for its authors and mouthpieces.
We will lose the most distinguishing right under a *Republican*.. who would have guessed it.

No, if you look at “Obama Zombies,” a book that focused on “da yuts,’ Zero utterly killed McTurd in youtube views of speeches, FB views, FB messages, and Twitter following. We’re talking orders of 20:1 or higher.

It was definitely a major component of Zero’s 2008 success. By the same token, Trump added over 1 MILLION new Twitter followers just last month, putting him at 64m. Even allowing that many of these are bots or foreigners or trolls, if he has just 45m hard core Twit followers, that’s already 2/3 of his 2016 turnout.

Romney was particularly lackluster. He kind of won the first debate and slept through the second one.

Zogby also runs a fake polling org, no?

There is no doubt in my mind that Obama was a created candidate by corrupt forces which pretty much control the country.

That’s encouraging to hear.

Every day I receive at least two texts from the Trump organization. That is a good indicator of his organization.

Obama’s “campaign plan” amounted to reading teleprompter imo. The corrupt media would do the rest by making rock star out of him to get him into Oval Office.

Trump then successfully played the media with his rallies to win Oval Office despite Hillary spending a bunch of other people’s money on her failed campaign.

I no longer believe that the democrats pick a strong candidate, but rather someone The deep state insiders can control. Obama had Valerie Jarrett running the operations from behind the curtain, and that is why they are not so concerned with slow Joe Biden...he will merely be the figurehead from which they would run the country...Why do you think they hate Trump so bad? He is so outside of their control...He is not a puppet and does not bow down to the Washington elitist and power brokers. He has already exposed a lot of their corruption, yet getting them behind bars is another matter....

To add to the other posts here, The Left, also, cheats its way to political victory, while The Non-Left doesn’t.

At least the recent Free Republic Thread, linked above, provided some rather encouraging news for PDJT’s reelection!

We were going to have our first “historic” black (and ineligible) President, come hell or high water.
BOTH parties wanted the natural born citizen clause eviscerated.
