Agree with your post 100% - although as I have the twin brother, I would like to include what may be the most infamous clip fed rifle of all. The Carcano Model 91/38 (aka Mannlicher-Carcano) - Ole LHO must have been one hell of a shot as I have never been able to sight it in for even a 10” group at 100 yards. ( 8 rds per clip) 6.5

Fyi, a LOT of 91/38 rifles/carbines have oversize bores & they do WELL oftentimes with a 120 grain GCCB, made of straight wheel-weights, at about 1800FPS, IF the GCCB actually FITS the bore.

Perfectly acceptable Whitetail & mid-size critter killers are the old Carcanos out to 200M, with a PROPER size bullet & modest charge of H4895 powder. = When $$$ were tighter than Dick’s hatband, I had a friend who ALWAYS got his deer each year & kept his family well-fed on feral pork with a 91/38 rifle that he paid 5 bucks for at a hock-shop.
