Had several ROBO calls over the past two days from 704-935-5630, Kannapolis, NC identifying themselves as Young Republicans. They were soliciting donations.
This is an exchange in the Charlotte NC area. I do not live near there.
I think it was a scam as the woman was very rude on the phone as I explained that after Alabama I only give directly to the candidate, not to the Party.
Is this even legal?
Well...lotsa people call asking for dollars....who knows if they are legit...but, like you, we give directly to CANDIDATES!
Sounds suspicious for sure.
Liberals are scammers, liars and most of the sexual abusers and the majority of prison inmates.
We need to set up a Republican clearing house for these types of concerns...
Ive found it best just to hang up on all solicitations.
yup, if I see a ph# I don’t recognize, I hit the green button and then immediately hit the red button(cordless phone or cell phone). That way they can’t even leave a message.
You could always contact the YR [through the GOP committeeman and let the know someone was soliciting in the group’s name and you suspect the solicitor was a scammer.]
I usually just tell phone solicitors to send snail mail so I can see who they want the check written to... legit ones will do that.
Bkmk
Whether it’s illegal or not doesn’t matter.
NEVER donate to anyone that calls you. NEVER.
.
YES, it’s why we just got my 91 year old MIL a new Jitterbug phone, with a new number, and she’s moved to a new address....she answered every call for money..not with a lot, but regularly sending checks. Luckily she was smart enough not to give her credit card over phone, which they asked for. aaagggghhhh.
I have had a number of calls this year that go like this:
Hello- This is ________ from ‘the fulfillment center’.
I NEVER do any online shopping. I do buy horse supplies from a catalog, but I call them directly. They know me there. I get their catalogs regularly.
I do NOT do any online banking nor do I ‘check’ my balance online. I know MY balance-—I look at my checkbook register for that.
These are scam calls & I immediately hang up. I do not have caller ID, so am not sure where they are originating.
> As a retired forensic CPA I tend to smell frauds.
So they probably were associated with the party.
And I have an unlisted number - cannot imagine what it would be like with a published number.
two elderly women I know with still published home phone numbers get multiple calls a day even while being on the so-called no call list.
It is sad to think of the number of people who are being scammed by these callers.
