Pew: Majority Of Dems Feel ‘Stressed’ Talking To Trump Supporters

A majority of Democrats find it stressful to talk with supporters of President Donald Trump, according to a Pew Research Center poll released Thursday.

The latest national survey by Pew, conducted June 27 through July 9 among 2,505 adults, found that 68 percent of both Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents find it “stressful and frustrating” to talk about politics with people who have a different opinion of Trump. Just 28 percent of the two groups found it “interesting and informative.”

Republicans in the same poll were more split on the question. Only 52 percent of Republicans or Republican-leaning independents said that it’s stressful to talk about politics with people who have a different opinion of the president. Forty-two percent found it interesting and informative.

The poll found that white Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents are more likely to find it stressful to talk with Trump supporters than did black or Hispanic Democrats. While 74 percent of white Democrats say it is stressful, only 56 percent of blacks and 61 percent of Hispanic Democrats shared the same opinion.

Women find talking with people with a different view of Trump more frustrating than men, 64 percent compared to 54 percent. Adults under 30 are actually more likely to find conversations with people of the opposite political persuasion interesting than are older Americans, 42 percent to 33 percent.

I once countered Woody Harrelsons’ long winded tweet on Facebook with “WHAT AN IDIOT!” They came out of the woodwork. My simple explanation was that he made more in a 2 hour movie than his supporters make in a lifetime. Why must he think for all of us?

A bit of a correction there: they don't feel uncomfortable talking to us about politics, they feel uncomfortable listening to us. And so most don't. How many times have we entered into the often-demanded "dialogue" on race only to find it's a monologue, and it's somebody else's? They'll talk to us, all right, an endless stream of accusatory hectoring. But listen? It's very, very rare.

I will posit this opinion - based loosely on something Rush said from time to time when he’s gone to parties where Libs are. They hate someone confident in what they believe AND on the Right.

I would extend it - Liberals hate someone who’s confident, knows their stuff AND a conservative or Pro-American, Pro-God, Pro-Morals. SO - having said that - the MAJORITY of Trump supporters are at least one - if not all of the above AND they love that Trump is an outside fighter against the status quo.

AND their arguments are 99.9999% based on lies - for which their whole world would crumble when challenged with truth.

Well that’s funny, b/c I find that it’s the Democrats who are first to bring up their hate for Trump in mixed political company, totally unprovoked.
They are losers eager for affirmation from other losers and/or looking for a chance to change to mind of “low-information” Trump voters.
