Some of the comments here are off base regarding the significance of Melania Trump. Here is how I see it. It is obvious that the First Lady suffers no fools. Compare that with her devotion and loyalty to President Donald Trump. In short, the President is no fool and she knows it. Who would know better than her. Her membership on President Trump’s team validates him. Donald Trump is already a great president and will make America great again. We are very fortunate.

Pence is too close to the republican establishment and has a bland personality. He was brought in only to unite the base in the general election, and it would be a mistake to let him go unchallenged in a primary down the road.

I remember hearing my parents talk about how awful Harry Truman and his wife were. They considered them both an embarrassment. They disliked the Trumans but thought Franklin Roosevelt was wonderful! (They did not like Eleanor Roosevelt though.) They were Democrats.
I was a child. I took their opinions as a matter or course.
However, when I grew up and evaluated everything for myself, I realized that I admire Harry and Bess Truman very highly and have little respect for Franklin Roosevelt. I am definitely a Republican. I really like Bess Truman, and, in my opinion, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan were the only two great Presidents of the 20th century.
Teddy Roosevelt was a good one.
One of the most important things I ever learned was to think for myself.
Too bad millions of Americans are being taught to do the opposite. Maybe they'll figure it all out and think for themselves. Let's hope so.

Pence is aligned with establishment on some very important issues. If he is ever the head of the republican presidential ticket he will most likely lose the general election regardless of whether you like him or not. He shouldn’t be handed the nomination without a fight if we get to that point.

They don’t dare now, but within six months...
1.). Homeless crisis. (There were NO homeless under Obama.)
2.). The kids are too hungry to learn. (Reference above, likewise.)
3.). Like Reagan, we’d going to start a world war.
The mainstream media, NY Times now with huge staff cuts, will just rehash Reagan error articles. This is why they don’t need editors, just wordsmith and substitute Trump for Reagon. Already edited.

"Then why did Trump choose Pence in the first place?" Why did:
- Adams pick Jefferson?
- McKinley Pick Roosevelt?
- Roosevelt pick Fairbanks?
- Kennedy pick Johnson?
- Reagan pick Bush?
Most likely, IMHO, for the same reason...To get elected!

Thanks for the answer. You’re right.
Bush was Reagan’s biggest mistake.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think anyone is trying to insult Melania. Making the point that we voted for Donald Trump and not his family can come off sounding a lot more disrespectful and insulting than it's meant to be. If there's a Trump that some have a problem with it's Ivanka. She stayed away from policy during the campaign while showing her support the same as Melania, but unlike Melania she's now an official adviser that's reportedly pushing a liberal agenda.
