And, what, exactly, was the impetus for the Iraq War? 9-11. My point stands. Her best shot at ever attaining the Presidency would have been, in a world where 9-11 never happened, in 2004.
She never recovered from that 'bolt out of the blue' on that mild September Tuesday morning. She has been trying ever since, to overcome the effects of that morning, and has had little success in overcoming that blow, and likely never will, at this stage...

Modern presidential politics is very harsh on the loser, it's typically a career ender especially for a democrat.
For years after 2000, Al Gore attempted to remind everyone that he won the popular vote. It didn't work.

Have you ever stopped to consider the why of that point? I think I can show you the why. Gore was totally undistinguished in his political career until he became Vice President and led the US delegation in the meetings that came up with the Kyoto Accords.
The US Senate, his old stomping grounds, refused to ratify them. He thought that if he were President, he could arm twist the Senate into ratifying, and thus validate the single, signal achievement of his otherwise nothingburger political career. THAT, in a nutshell, was the impetus for the entire sordid recount affair. He was trying to save his sorry 'legacy'. Having failed there, what did he do? He parlayed that into an immense fortune, but the failure still eats at him, and it shows...

[He is 6’2” and 236#’s according to his most recently released physical. That is technically over weight by about forty or so pounds. However, it is not exactly morbidly obese. The ‘ideal’ weight is supposedly 185#’s.]
I weighed 189 at 6’2” at one time and looked like a scarecrow. (Utility Meter Reader lots of walking)
My most comfortable weight in looks and feeling well is about 200 to 215.
I now weigh 235 at the same height and am 1 point over into “obese”.
On my way to dropping 20 now. Again. LOL

But consider if he had been the better man and not contested the election? I think the Democrats would have fought hard for him later. On the other hand, knowing what jerks they are they might have labeled him as a loser. Oh well, Glad we are rid of him.
I'll wager his against hers, even adjusting for height differences, she's the heavier, so maybe people should be demanding her figures - not to mention her consumption of food and drink.

Carrying a little extra in later years is both normal and probably healthy. Lots of people get ill in old age and can’t fight off the illness as they are too thin. Besides old skinny people look older than those with a little girth.

Lost 30 lbs and feel much better. Wish I could quit smoking, and I would be good.]
I went down to 200 from 235 back in 2012. Lots of whey powder shakes for meal replacement. It felt great at 6’2”. In the early 90’s I was 189 and had a 32-33” waste. Much too thin.
Now back to 235 and yes, feel fat and out of shape.
Gore took himself out of the 2004 nomination, they even had a slogan for him 're-elect Gore 04'.
My guess would be that since he no longer held an elected position, he had no power base and little funding to run.
With the entirety of the Washington Press Corps behind her she would have been quite formidable in 2004, make no mistake. The internet had not yet come into its own at that stage. It was nowhere near as pervasive as it is today, and the main stream media still held a monopoly on the dissemination of information. Although it could be seen that the monopoly was in trouble, it was still, in many respects, intact.

Perhaps, but with that unified press behind her, it would have been far easier to obscure, just as various and sundry things were obscured in her husband's administration. Point in fact, she still largely relies on it today, but it has nowhere near the potency as a weapon it had twelve years ago.
