Donald Trump makes a speech about the economy at The Economic Club of New York on Thursday. "Not one single idea she's got will create one net American job or create one new dollar of American wealth for our workers," Trump said of Hillary Clinton. "The only thing she can offer is a welfare check. That's about it. Our plan will produce paychecks and they're going to be great paychecks for millions of people now unemployed or underemployed."

Unfortunately, that is enough for a lot of voters.
We are in trouble...
The population of this country is 300 million.
160 million are retired.
That leaves 140 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school.
Which leaves 55 million to do the work.
Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal government.
Leaving 20 million to do the work.
2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied
with protecting our country.
Which leaves 17.2
million to do the work.
Take from that total the 15.8 million people who work for state and city Governments. And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.
At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.
Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.
That leaves just two people to do the work.
You and me.
And there you are,
Sitting on your ass,
At your computer, reading jokes..

Repeat this in every speech for the rest of the campaign.
Slaves were brought here and forced to work. Upon being granted freedom, naturally, they did not want to work. In fact, many went to DC looking for “Mr. Lincoln” thinking he was going to care for them. As it turned out they ended up having to work just as hard if not harder to survive as sharecroppers or field hands. Once the government came in and started handing out welfare checks they saw it as an opportunity to never HAVE to work again. And that attitude has been passed down through the generations.
Not wanting to use a broad brush, there were those who moved North so they could find work with decent pay.
Reaganesque speech... Trump is on a roll hitting it home.

Therein lies the rub. He’s assuming that people actually want to work. Why in the world would you want to work when you’re getting a 3k a month crazy check from the gov with all healthcare and education paid for?

Unfortunately, there are entire families who have not had an employed member in several generations. They are (usually) not interested in employment.
