Donald Trump Jr. gave a speech at the Republican convention last night. Slate's Jordan Weissmann* wrote that it was a bit pandery and over-the-top, but mostly finea decent and comptently delivered political speech.
One observer who had a significantly more positive take was frequent CNN guest Andy Dean, who is most well-known for praising a Trump supporter who sucker-punched a black protester at a rally and for getting called out on national television for using a booster seat. Here's Dean, a onetime Apprentice contestant who also worked for Trump at the production company that puts on the Miss USA and Miss Universe paegants....

I agree - he was simply wonderful.
Man, This is going to be great! 8 yrs. of Donald and 8 years of Donald Jr.! The Dems are going to be so happy.
I have been saying to Mrs. Soldier for several months that if something did, God forbid, happen to Donald Trump, his son Donald Jr. would be a perfect stand in. I believe last night proved me correct.
May have been the best since slice bread, but let’s not build a dynasty just yet. The last one did not turn out so well...
Agreed
And.....Eric and Ivanka still to come. An impressive family.
Donald Jr. was great. THe substance and the delivery spectacular.
Who wrote that speech or helped?
Whoever should have checked Melania’s speech.
Donald Jr was solid. His speech accuracy was near perfect. His cadence was so-so. He’s uncommonly poised and knowledgeable for someone his age and will likely age well. There’s a real potential for a Trump dynasty to emerge.
Dad must be very proud of Junior. And all his kids.
It’s great that they learned working at Trump with the sweat of manual labor. And also behind the controls of a Cat D10. That’s one big, powerful machine.
Jr. says not until his kids are grown.
It was awesome!
another late-night comment: “a star is born”, and I agree.
I do not like political dynasties. I don’t think that concept goes well with a free country.
However, Trump’s family is extremely impressive. He did a good job as a father. Gotta give credit.
One of the Buckleys.
Maybe he can run against Jeb Jr. Call him little Jeb and names like that!
You know the Bushes are livid at the very thought!
Donald J. Trump Jr. is 38 years old.
He will be President in the years ahead. He is truly amazing, so aware and so in tune.
A D10 cat is quite the machine
He often came across as wooden on his dad’s show while Ivanka oozed charisma and poise. I am glad to see he did a good job with his speech.
