“Newt would destroy whomever he faced in the debate”

Nope! The media would find a reason to not air the debate live and then edit the crap out of it so Newt would look like a idiot.

Newt would be a good choice. Cruz would be a horrible pick, Cruz is a lying dirt bag that is hated by just about everyone other then his cult followers. Right this very minute Cruz and his bots are plotting to ignore the will of the people and nominate someone (Cruz) other then Trump. Cruz is a #NeverTrumper.

I am hoping Abbott takes Ted Senate seat, if not Abbott than maybe Dan Patrick? One of those two should primary Cruz.

Yes!!!!! Lieutenant Dan for V.P.!

Seriously, Mr.Sinise is a patriot and cares deeply about veterans. He does a lot for wounded warriors, IIRC. People would love him.

I think a woman or black or both is the way to go.

At best? Ted is too immature for veep. At worst? Well I could go on and not even include his being not a NBS.

If Trump were to get Governor Susana Martinez, he would do much to mend fences that he has broken during the primary battle. Martinez has a lot of clout as the chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association and having this association going to bat for Trump would be a big boost for his campaign.

Trump is going to need someone with Newt's skill set to get his agenda items thru Congress. He will need and he's said he needs a VP that know knows Congress and knows D.C. That is not Abbott that is Newt or someone like Newt.

I'd like to see Abbott in the Senate (Cruz's seat).

“If I had to make a bet I’d say that the VP will be either Newt or Cruz.

Despite all that happened during the campaign, Trump likes Cruz and donated to him years ago when he had no reason to do so. Cruz is already parroting the Trump talking points and is not even on the ticket.”

Either of those two would be horrible choices.

I think Trump was seriously considering Cruz at one point, but Cruz’s behaving like a smarmy. narcissistic jerk at the debates killed any hope of that (not to mention Trump has called him a liar about 10,000 times - how do you say that and THEN choose the guy as your running mate?).

Newt has a gigantic ego AND is undependable. A couple of weeks ago he was perfectly comfortable attacking Trump after his comments about the Judge in his civil case - it seemed to me then that he’d probably gotten the word the VP spot wasn’t going to be his.

“How about Iowa’s Joni Ernst?”

About about NOT picking someone because they’re a woman, black, gay, a dwarf or a space alien?

Leave the identity politics BS to the left.

I agree. But the main job of the VP will be to defend every single one of Trump’s positions on the VP debate.

Cruz agrees with most of them and can do it. The same goes for Newt. I don’t really like either one of them but they can handle a debate against any democrat.

To pick someone who hasn’t been tested and is not fully on board can be a disaster.

Cotton sounds like a good choice.

I would love to see Newt as press secretary.
