Jeff Roe: Cruz Could Play Big Part at Convention Unifying GOP Behind Trump

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Ted Cruz's campaign manager, Jeff Roe, comments on what Trump can do at the Republican Convention to unite the party: Give Ted Cruz a prominent role.

JEFF ROE: I would be remiss if I didn't point out that without data, without online fund raising, they kicked my butt anyway. That's on top of us raising $93 million, which was a record (at the time) for Republican primaries, getting eight million votes.

Mr. Trump has a way to control the news cycle. I believe they will be able to put it together, but they have to get going now. The time -- it boils down to data and analytics and ground really equates to about a point and a half, 2.5, 3.5, points depending on how the Democrats are doing it. And the Democrats are doing it well, because they --the Clintons-- have won so many campaigns within the margin of error.

That typically means that the ground game made the difference. I think they [the Trump campaign] have time.

The RNC has done a good job ramping up. It's a generic model. They will need to make it Trump specific. But if you look at the polls the last few days, after what has been six and a half weeks of pretty tough stuff for the Trump people, he's still in margin error or up in places where he needs to be. In fact he's doing better than you would anticipate him doing in places like Pennsylvania and others.

I think there's time to catch up. They do have to get going very quickly...

The most amazing thing about a Trump/Cruz ticket would be watching certain freepers try to jump through hoops to justify how “saint” Trump chose the “devil” as his running mate.

Trump is further to the right, than Lyin Ted ever was or likely will be.

Did you hear Trump blame the Chicago rally violence on his ‘tone’?

Got that right!!

On the topic of mental illness and eminent domain....Have you checked out what the globalists like your fantasy buttboy Cruz have done to border states like California?

That's eminent domain.

The photos just show Oswald with some unidentified individual.

We don’t know who the guy was, but we know it wasn’t Rafael Cruz because he wasn’t in New Orleans when the photo was taken.

I don’t think Cruz has it within himself to be a team player. He would require a “what’s in it for me” deal which is exactly what a entrenched political elitist expects.

Why would Trump give someone who hasn’t endorsed him a “prominent” role in the convention? That seems stupid to me.

AGREED. Cruz has made no public movement towards Trump. H

e has 560 delegates and has encouraged them to hold hold tight, keep evaluating and soul searching, etc.

Yet, HE MADE A PLEDGE TO SUPPORT THE NOMINEE. He is not honoring his word or the pledge...

No deal till he honors the pledge.

I read the entire article. Nowhere did Cruz come out for Brexit (despite the misleading title). He said the US should respect the British voters’ decision, and that the US would pursue a favored trade relationship with Britain if they opted to leave the EU.

Again, nowhere in that article did Cruz support Brexit. If you say otherwise, provide a direct quote from Cruz himself.

+1

It’s beginning to look like Cruz supporters will be in butthurt mode for the rest of their lives.

Opposing Obama’s punishment for the Brexit is indeed support for it. If Ted was a globalist as you say, he would weigh in alongside the dozens of people who were warning of gloom and doom if the Brexit happened.

My turn for a question, why do you take such a legalistic view on Ted’s support for the Brexit... but then do the opposite about the pledge to support the “nominee”? Trump isn’t the nominee until the convention.

Double standard much?

Oh noes... the “you need my vote” threat!! Have mercy!!

Puh-leeez! Not having an extension of the Obama disaster should be what motivates you to vote for Trump. Not whether his supporters will kiss your ring!! Wake up!

Just in from that "Globalist" Ted Cruz. Maybe he should now be labeled a "Reformed Globalist". Or maybe you just got the tag wrong in the first place.

If you can find an inch of space between the Trump and the Cruz views on Brexit you should point them out to all of us.

"WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued a statement in response to initial reporting of ‘Brexit’ returns. Sen. Cruz urged the United States to respect the results of the United Kingdom’s referendum on its membership in the European Union:

“The British people have spoken clearly: They choose to leave the European Union,” Sen. Cruz said. “The results of the ‘Brexit’ referendum should serve as a wake-up call for internationalist bureaucrats from Brussels to Washington, D.C. that some free nations still wish to preserve their national sovereignty. The British people have indicated that they will no longer outsource their future to the EU, and prefer to chart their own path forward. The United States can learn from the referendum and attend to the issues of security, immigration and economic autonomy that drove this historic vote. In addition, we should treat the ‘Brexit’ as an opportunity to forge a closer partnership with our historic friend and ally, including immediately starting negotiations for a targeted US-UK free trade agreement.”"

There is no nominee until after the convention.

Cruz did NOT say he supported Britain leaving the EU. Nowhere did he say that; nowhere. If I say, “If you decide to stay with your job, I’ll support you, but if you decide to quit that job, I’ll support that too,” I’m NOT urging you to quit. I’m saying I’ll support you Either Way.

Cruz’ vow to support the nominee had no strings attached. If Cruz were a man of integrity he’d have honored that promise when it mattered. But as with other issues, if he honors it at all, he’ll do so not when it could actually help stop Hillary, but after it’s too late to make any difference one way or the other.

Cruz's attempt to subvert the Constitution and usurp the presidency will NEVER be forgotten.

P.S. - That includes little Marco and that Punjab Bobby Jindal.

Exactly right. That includes all the pseudo conservative talking heads on talk radio and the media who never said a word about the usurpation of the presidency by O’muslim. There's a special place in hell for all of them. Their ‘careers’ are over.

So, Cruz’s dad was involved in the JFK assassination?

That is what you are saying?

You are saying that you have “proof” which shows that Raphael Cruz was involved in the JFK assassination?

...and then on top of that, only people who are “intelligent” like you can understand the “proof” that you have?

Good lord....just stop. please. stop.

He HAS NOT SAID THAT HE WOULD HONOR HIS PLEDGE AND WOULD SUPPORT TRUMP IF HE IS THE NOMINEE. In fact he is saying something quite different....see below...IMHO He is holding out in hopes of being beneficiary of convention shenanigans.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/may/10/ted-cruz-refuses-support-donald-trump-campaign-election-2016

Ted Cruz refused to commit his support to Donald Trump as the Republican nominee on Tuesday, and did not rule out resurrecting his campaign for president despite having dropped out of the race last week.

In an interview with conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, the Texas senator said that picking a presidential candidate “is not a choice that we as voters have to make today”.

His comments came as Marco Rubio, the Florida senator who suspended his own presidential bid in March, said he would support Trump as the nominee.

During an interview with CNN on Tuesday, Rubio said he intended to stick to a pledge signed by all of the Republican candidates last year to back the eventual nominee.

“I signed a pledge, put my name on it, and said I would support the Republican nominee and that’s what I intend to do,” Rubio said.

Cruz appeared less bound by the pledge, which has already been discarded by former contenders Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham – both of whom have come out against Trump despite his all but clinching the Republican nomination.

Cruz pointed out there were still two months until the Republican National Convention in Cleveland and six months until the general election, saying “we need to watch and see what the candidates say and do”.

I challenge you to find me one time... even one time that Senator Cornyn voted the “right” way on an issue and Senator Cruz voted the wrong way.

When you fail to find even one, consider that with the dozens and dozens of times where Cruz was on the right side of an issue and Cornyn was not.

So why is Senator Cruz’s career over and yet you have no issue with Cornyn? You a Rino-lover?
