AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - In finishing the Republican presidential race well ahead of Donald Trump's other rivals, Ted Cruz is likely to be a leading GOP voice for the foreseeable future.

Less clear is whether Cruz harnesses that clout to help Trump win the White House or whether he simply solidifies his place as a champion of conservative causes, Senate troublemaker and star of Texas politics.

Cruz is being talked about as a leader of the national conservative movement, and he has an unmatched organization in Texas....

Cruz dropped out of the race and the NE may continue to pursue this story and the earlier one as well. The stayed on John Edward’s tale for 2 1/2 years, long after they lost the race.

The N.E. is in business and they would sell many more magazines if Cruz had remained in place. I’m sure that if we have been reading bits ‘n pieces here, they have access to much more since they pay top dollar for documents. And they never release the whole scoop at once. I would expect more to follow.

Would you rather have had the Clinton’s pursue the line of inquiry on Papa Rafael? Do you think Hellary is too ladylike to sleuth into Cruz’s life? She likely already has the exact same info the N.E. has acquired. She is sitting on it. Clinton likely paid a team of PIs to investigate every detail of all 17 candidates. She was burned in 2007 by not getting the goods on BHO. It was her that sent the team to Hawaii to get his kindergarten records and to Indonesia, as well. The more electable the candidate becomes, the more likely it is for documents to disappear, become heavily redacted, or falsified. She will not make that mistake again.

BTW, those photographs, news clips, the port of entry documents on Cruz, his assumption of an alias, etc. were all posted here on FR after someone obtained them via a FOIA request. Investigative reporting is not restricted to The Enquirer or the Clintons. FReepers love to sleuth.

The point is really not about you personally.

And the point stands.

I ask again, what in the world is any of this have to do with smearing Rafael Cruz for consorting with a murderer of the president of the United States?

Cruz can lead and grow that coalition, and maybe some day even challenge McConnell for Majority Leader.

He's in intensive care right now, and the noobs would rather pull the plug than save a life.

Ben Sasse, Mike Lee, and who else is on the chopping block?

Cruz can still be rehabilitated. He can still be a movement champion in the Senate.

Cruz said it in his own words. Not me. He said he would not be in the Senate if it were not for Palin:

I love @SarahPalinUSA Without her support, I wouldn’t be in the Senate. Regardless of what she does in 2016, I will always be a big fan.

Is it a smear, if it’s true. If it had been Trump’s father, the press would be all over it. Quite frankly, the old Cuban men his age, tell a different story, his story does not jibe. Not one bit. Why did Rafael admit to assuming another Cuban immigrant’s name and DOB?

Cubans immediately took credit for Fidel having Kennedy killed. It’s been the gospel within the Cuban community since 1963. Many may have not wanted to believe that, but after the SS Cuban agent started talking in 2000, the evidence has become rather convincing. While a quarter million Cubans ended up in Florida and NJ, only a handful went to Texas. Obviously, Rafael was intentionally placed with five other revolutionaries in Texas, as opposed to the well developed Anti-communist Cuban community of Little Havana in Miami.

Rafael was an admitted Castro sympathizer and is photographed at school with five other Cubans with the libertad Cuban flag. How well he knew Oswald or any fellow Cubans involved in JFK’s assassination remains to be seen. Oswald was recruited to the secret service organization by the same Cuban agent who had been recruited to kill Castro, a year before the Kennedy assassination. Maybe Cruz knew him, or knew OF him, maybe not.

Cruz’s career is odd in relation to his education credentials. He comes off as a duplicitous untrustworthy character. He has campaigned for his son, knowing that he is ineligible to hold office. He and Ted’s mother are responsible for Ted not being eligible. He deserves to be held accountable since his speaking tour of Dominionism encompassed his Cuban tales of woe.

When you return home, look at the timeline of events. Rafael’s Cuban story is at least partially fabricated, assuming an alias, conflicting ports and dates of entry, his immediate admission to University, those associated costs, return trip to Cuba, his pro-Castro activities at UT, his passing out the ‘play for Cuba’ bills, and flight to Canada. Many speculate that he had to have been an operative of Castro or asset of The Agency, possibly both.

Cruz was a vice chair of the NRSC before he got into the pres race. Maybe he’ll do that again...he’ll fit RIGHT in. They did plenty of fundraising for him USING TRUMP SUPPORTERS! And still are!

When you going to learn? THE RNC IS A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE!
THAT is what Trump is trying to tell you!

ROTTEN, miserable NRSC still using Trump to raise $$ for their own! May 5, 2016

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/1506967/Did-the-Cubans-assassinate-Kennedy.html

By Kate Connolly in Berlin12:01AM GMT 04 Jan 2006
The Cuban secret service was behind the assassination of President John F Kennedy, according to evidence presented in a new television documentary. Rendezvous with Death, to be shown on German television on Friday, offers the most convincing evidence that Fidel Castro’s regime was behind the most talked-about murder of the 20th century.

A former agent of the Cuban secret service G2 talks for the first time about how Lee Harvey Oswald, the assassin, was, he claims, pointed out to the Cubans by the KGB. Oscar Marino, who fell out with the Castro regime, said the Cubans were desperate to eliminate Kennedy, an opponent of the revolution who wanted to kill Castro.

“You ask why we took Oswald?” he said to the German film maker Wilfried Huismann. “Oswald was a dissident: he hated his country. He possessed certain characteristics. “There wasn’t anyone else. You take what you can get. . . Oswald volunteered to kill Kennedy.”

Oswald was a Communist who spent three years in the Soviet Union and shot Kennedy in Dallas. He was killed by Jack Ruby after his arrest, leaving his motives shrouded in mystery. Huismann spent three years persuading people to break their silence about Oswald’s alleged Cuba connections. His film is based on testimony by former US, Cuban and Russian agents, KGB files and Mexican archives.

One of the main witnesses is a retired FBI agent, Lawrence Keenan, now in his eighties. Keenan was sent after the assassination to trace Oswald’s footsteps in Mexico. The evidence he found - linking the Cubans with the murder - prompted the FBI head, J Edgar Hoover, on the orders of President Lyndon Johnson, to withdraw Keenan after three days.

“This was perhaps the worst investigation the FBI was ever involved in,” said Keenan. “I realised that I was used. I felt ashamed. We missed a moment in history.”

Mexico City was considered a “Pandora’s Box” by the Johnson administration, which feared a war with Cuba were the truth to be revealed to the American people. “They were afraid of what will happen. They didn’t want to. . . know the truth for fear it would mean we go to war. Johnson sincerely feared for his own life.” It was convenient therefore for the administration to paint Oswald as a loner.

Alexander Haig, a military adviser to Kennedy and Johnson who became secretary of state in 1981, said in the film that Johnson was terrified his people would learn the truth. “He [Johnson] said ‘we simply must not allow the American people to believe that Fidel Castro could have killed our president’.

>>>>>>
>>>—>”And the reason was that there would be a Right-wing uprising in America, which would keep the Democratic party out of power for two generations.”
>>>>>>

Mr Haig added: “He [Johnson] was convinced Castro killed Kennedy, and he took it to his grave.” Huismann’s interviews and documents he found show the extent of the secret war, involving murder and sabotage plots, between Castro and the Kennedy brothers.

Without the knowledge of Congress or the American public, John and Robert Kennedy allegedly planned eight assassination attempts on Castro, all of which failed.

Huismann’s explanation for the failures is a Cuban who fought alongside Castro but who later fell out with him. He claims that this man was “contracted” by Robert Kennedy to murder the “Maximo Lider”, and was provided by the CIA with pistols disguised as fountain pens and powerful poison to carry out the task.

But Castro always found out about the plots in advance, leading to suspicions of a double agent. The film claims that in November 1963 the Cuban took his last order from Robert Kennedy to murder Castro. The act, involving poison and the fountain pen, was to be carried out on Nov 22, the very day Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.

“Unfortunately, Castro was better than us,” said a CIA agent in the film who is not identified. Marino said Oswald was recruited to the secret service organisation by the same agent who had been recruited to kill Castro, a year before the Kennedy assassination.

“In other words the very man Robert Kennedy recruited to kill Fidel Castro hired his brother’s murderer,” Huismann said.

KGB files released in Moscow document a meeting between Oswald and the Cuban, who is now a retired surgeon living in Madrid. Interviewed for the film, however, he denied any connection to Oswald, calling it an “outrageous lie”.

Marino did not want to answer the question as to whether Castro had direct knowledge of the Oswald assassination plan. Huismann wrote his film with Gus Russo, author of the 1998 book on the Castro-JFK rivalry, Live by the Sword.

FR Footnote: I have heard the same story from Cubans in 1970 (freedom fighters-B.o.P.) and again with detail around 1982 from a group of physicians & surgeons (Alpha 66).

My comment was in reply to this ditty:

Trump is so hated in Texas for the lies he spread he probably will lose this red state. Gary Johnson (a libertarian loon from NM) is already pulling in the support.

So, you can see it was not bashing, just giving another perspective backing it up with facts.

“I just have a very difficult time seeing any Republican in the state challenging him,” she said. “It’s up to Cruz if he wants to run another term, and I think he’ll have a fairly easy time should he choose re-election.”

“My Friends in Texas swear he won’t be re elected.”

He will be reelected because the Bush/Rove RINO pick to run against Cruz doesn’t have a chance.

“If Greg Abbott takes on Cruz, Cruz is out of a job. I think Patrick beats him too..”

Abbott isn’t going anywhere. Cruz will win reelection because like him or hate him, Texas is conservative and will not elect a RINO. Now if Perry decides to take a run at the senate, all bets are off.

This idiot would be lucky if he keeps his Senate seat, considering how willing he was to scuttle this election in the Democrat’s and GOPe’s favor!

You are indeed clueless...about Texas politics, at any rate.

So far as the Texas electorate is concerned, Cruz has fulfilled every promise and can be confident of re-election.
