The article is extremely Inside Baseballish, but if you’re running for president, you need to hire people who know the rules. All that Wonky data cannot just ignored.

Think of it as the modified Godwin's Law for the 2016 GOP primary: As an online discussion of the GOP primary grows longer, the probability of an assertion involving Canada approaches 1. At which point, the discussion becomes worthless!

Cruz did not see at the time how McConnell outsmarted him, Ryan convinced Cruz to cowrite the article in the WSJ supporting TPA undermining conservatives, and the MCConnell lied to him about the Iranian deal.
Thanks for the response.....I just don't see it the same way. I think Cruz worked it the best way he could by raising money for the incumbent challengers in 2013...including Matt Bevin, who tried to take McConnell's seat....while fulfilling his obligations as an "appointed" member of the NRSC in 2014, since that objective was to "turn the Senate" to the Republican's advantage, which they did.
The TPA deal, I'm ambivalent on. I've studied back to the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act of 1934, the Kennedy round....Tokyo round...and Uruguay round...and don't see what all the "this is different" hoopla was about.
Cruz said he was for it....then backed out....because he said McConnell lied about making a deal to get the Ex-Im passed in "exchange" for TPA.
And I don't know about McConnell lying to Cruz about Iran.....just that McConnell cut off every amendment Senators wanted to add to the Iran deal. Did I miss a part of that story?

Went back and retread several articles on the Bevin, MCDaniel and Senate races in 2014. McConnell and .cruz’s deal was that Cruz would stay neutral in the Senate races in return for McConnelll not opposing Cruz running for President. After the deal in December 2013 Cruz did not campaign, donate or raise money for any republican primary challenger to an incumbent Senator. He did blast the leadership and tactics used against McDaniel AFTER the race was over.
McConnell protected his flank by making the deals with Rand Paul and Cruz so Bevin and other challengers would not have active support of those senators and successful tea party candidates. After the primaries Cruz resigned from the NRSC as VP in protest to the tactics used against McDaniel.
I doubt it. The reality is he will disappoint you and most of his supporters. He is bought and paid for also and he is no “True Conservative”. I no longer believe in Conservatism, it stands for nothing.
Cruz cannot win, and you will be sorry.
