Republican Kasich says does not need delegate lead to win nomination

Ohio Governor John Kasich, who has staked his Republican presidential campaign on the upcoming contests in the Midwest, said on Monday he would not need a lead in the delegate count before his party's convention to win the nomination, according to media reports.

"In order to be the nominee, you have to have a certain number of votes," Kasich said after a town hall in Monroe, Michigan, which holds its presidential primary on Tuesday.

"You've got to win. You don't just say, 'Well, I have more than anybody else, therefore I'm in,'" Kasich said, according to the Washington Post.

Kasich, who is rising in some opinion polls to compete with Ted Cruz for second place in Michigan's Republican primary, has embraced the idea of a brokered convention to choose the nominee if no one gets a majority of delegates in the nominating contests for the Nov. 8 election.

New York billionaire Donald Trump is at the top of the dwindling Republican pack with the highest delegate count, but victories on Saturday by Cruz, the U.S. senator from Texas, cut into his lead. Kasich trails all his rivals, including U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, in delegates won....

Sounds like they know Romney will trigger complete hatred against the party, so they are going to pick the next most socialist candidate to run at the convention.

Yep, he’s saying he is hoping for a brokered convention and thinks he can win it.

He’ll be thinking different after he loses Ohio.

“Is he saying what it sounds like he’s saying?”

No, what he’s saying is:

“We’re going to fight all the way to November and make Hillary Clinton the next president of the United States!”

Kasich, Romney. They say all this stuff so nonchalantly as if it ain’t no big deal if the nominee is picked by people other than the voters.

Why are we even bothering with all this primary hoopla anyway?

Get used to it folks, election process in America now has become 3rd world hellhole style. Amusing maybe, but so corrupt and laughable.

I am a precinct captain and I will not freeze my as* off outside of the voting center in November in order to help get Kasich elected even in the impossible event that he is nominated.

I am convinced they don’t care about winning in Nov—or what the base thinks. They just don’t want the Party to be “embarrassed” in the eyes of the MSM.

Screw the people, I want power. That’s what he’s saying. I can picture the establishment behind closed doors sipping champagne provided by their lobbyists and laughing at the voters. If they pull something like this, I will not vote. I’ll write in Trump.

I thought getting more delegates was how you win. Oh, that’s right. It’s a new world. We only think our votes matter. If they really did matter they wouldn’t let us vote.

Yes. The aim is a brokered convention. Rubio & Cruz are staying out of Ohio to give Kasich a better chance against Trump by not splitting the anti-trump vote. Kasich believes he will be anointed at the ‘broken’ convention. Lots of backroom deals going on.

The RNC/GOP must deliver an amnesty candidate.

The Cheap Labor Express paid them to make sure we cannot elect a President who will stop them.

Assuming my reading is correct, according to Rule 40(b) of the Republican National Committee Rules governing the convention, only candidates who have received the majority of delegates from 8 or more states can be considered for the Presidential Nomination. So that would likely rule Kasich out as a potential nominee. And the rule would narrow the field down to either Trump or Cruz:

Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates from each of eight (8) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination. Notwithstanding any other provisions of these rules or any rule of the House of Representatives, to demonstrate the support required of this paragraph a certificate evidencing the affirmative written support of the required number of permanently seated delegates from each of the eight (8) or more states shall have been submitted to the secretary of the convention not later than one (1) hour prior to the placing of the names of candidates for nomination pursuant to this rule and the established order of business.

He absolutely is.
He is practically giddy over it, and it makes sense.
Why else would they have the convention in Cleveland?
We absolutely DO NOT have the infrastructure for this.

This needs to be spread far and wide so he gets defeated in Ohio.
