So now we want the electable candidate?

Wasn’t Romney and McCain supposed to be the “electable” candidates. These days I want the candidate who will burn the House down.

And Cruz or Trump will fit that bill.

if Cruz can only win where there are huge numbers of evangelicals then he can’t win the general election.. He lost NH by 3 to 1 and was even out voted by Trump with hard right wingers

Great. Then support Trump.

And when he cuts the throats of his conservative supporters by putting far left people in the courts, people who support Kelo style decisions, people who support gay rights, etc, take your self off of Free Republic because I will not want to hear your whining.

If you don't think that is a win for Cruz, you lack imagination.

You know like that essay you had to write in elementary school, "if wishing could make it so."

The paper you turned in started out, "suppose you lost an election but you imagined you won - that makes you the winner doesn't it?"

Funny that nobody is talking about Kasich.

Nor South Carolina, its like a pack of snarling dogs that just lost a fight, now they are groaning, licking their wounds and snapping at each other.

Sure Kasich had his solo night of fame, but like a first stage booster he also shot Trump higher.

Its going to be pretty darn interesting just how much the others are spending per vote, because Trump is definitely going to use that to his advantage.

Trump should publicly challenge the other candidate, don’t spend more than i’m spending, see what happens then.

Talk about “conserving”........

“The Trumpeteers will fail to see the strategic depth of the Cruz campaign and crow about winning a blue state”

You mean like Iowa?

Let me guess, Cruz wanted to lose New Hampshire as part of his master Jedi plan, right?

If the election is for the party nominee for President, why aren’t there federal laws making the process consistent since the results effect the nation. I don’t care about anything below the presidential slots. It can be done. it would be a mess, but it can be done.

Cruz got 12% of the vote in the least religious state in the country, also the 5th most liberal state, with a massive 45% of the GOP votes coming from independents. Trump, a north east liberal SHOULD win New Hampshire.
Plus Cruz spent only $580K vs. $32M for Bush and $15M for Rubio and still beat those two.
Let's see how them far left policies of TRUMP'S play in the south shall we?

And again, if you need that to salve your conscience, go for it.

However, that issue has been discussed on several different threads here on FR. Almost every single person on FR and the majority of conservatives in media and print thought that Roberts was the real deal. Cruz was not a Senator and did not have a vote, and to blame him for what a whole lot of people were thinking shows how desperate you are to justify your abdication of conservative principals.

Do what you bloody want, but do not try to get the rest of us to justify you.

So let's write it again. Democrats, by law, could not vote in the republican primary.

I'd like New Hampshire to eliminate all voting fraud--NH abuts Massachusetts, y'know.

The big question is how does Trump win? He lost 70% of the votes. It is hard to see his popularity getting to 50%. Instead, the ‘no to Trump’ sector will consolidate.

He “lost” 66% of the votes in a crowded field. I keep seeing this, but the rebuttal is that every other Republican candidate fared worse. It’s not a realistic assessment. Trump is not the perfect candidate, but none of them are. Any of them would be better than Sanders or Clinton, that’s the floor. Is the electorate as a whole persuaded of this? That’s the big question.

At this point, the best Cruz can probably do is possibly peel enough of the non-Establishment vote away from Trump to get the GOPe the brokered convention they would need to steal the race.

The big advantage Cruz has is the two year plus effort to build campaign infrastructure in just about every state. He has a well oiled machine in place where his primary competition has the force of celebrity (effective enough when it translates into votes.)

Cruz will remain formidable throughout this this election. The big challenge he has is that previously Trump acted as a “flame shield” from the leftist media. Now Trump and Cruz are openly attacking each other and the media is using them to take down each other.

It’s still a long road for Cruz especially in direct contention with Trump. I honestly believe that Cruz was not taken out of the running earlier because the media was so fixated with Trump. Cruz is strong enough to get through this and can win the nomination, but Trump is just as intelligent if not as disciplined so Cruz has his work cut out for him. It’s a worthy match regardless of how they lean politically as conservatives.

In the mean time, thank you God it isn’t Jeb...
