Ted Cruz Just Unloaded on Donald Trump
Red State ^ | January 1, 2016 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 01/12/2016 1:07:36 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

It appears that the bromance between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump is probably over for good. I mean, it was one thing to see Donald Trump openly attacking Cruz for days on end. We've seen that before, and never before had Cruz taken the bait. It appears that this method of dealing with Trump has finally reached its end in the Cruz campaign.

(CRUZ): >>>I will say that it's more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal, left-wing, judicial activist Harvard Law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter (Ed. note - Laurence Tribe). It starts to make you think, "Gosh, why are some of Hillary's strongest supporters backing Trump?" You know, the last couple of elections the Democrats have gotten the nominee they wanted to run against in the general election. It seems the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction.<<<

Welcome to the party, Ted Cruz. Better late than never to call Trump what he is.

I, for one, am glad that the prominent conservative personalities who have been pretending Trump is a conservative and talking about him positively to bolster their ratings, will finally have to choose between their wallet and their ideology (and credibility) in this battle between Trump and Cruz. It's been a long time coming.

We Trumpophiles as you call us, know that Trump is not as “conservative” as we would like — whatever conservatism means these days, it seems to me this certainly does not encompass a coherent philosophy any more. What we like is that Trump has changed the whole paradigm. Illegal immigration is now front and center whereas half a year ago, we were being told there is just nothing we could do, etc. We believe illegal immigration/terrorism is (along with our spiritual corruption of course) threatens our very nation and something must be done, and that Trump is the man to do it. Please try, try, try to understand. We are not idiots, we just see what the most compelling problem is, and that Trump sees it too. Let us get this fixed, and then we can deal with all of our other problems — especially our spiritual problem, which is something each and everyone of us can do on our own. By the way, I happen to agree with Trump, Cruz is not eligible, and we need to face this fact.

Well that depends. Since most of the anti-Cruz types were staunch pro Cruz a mere few months ago...well you know.

I am starting to call them Summer Constitutionalists. They only like original intent when it suits their desires. As opposed to Winter Constitutionalists who stick to the original intent even if it is not what they want.

That is the faintest praise and worse endorsement I have ever read.

I think this birther thing is so stupid and the wrong hill for Cruz to die on.

Hahaha. That’s unloading? Typical Cruz response. A lot of words that mean nothing. Meanwhile, Trump showing everyone how to win and take no prisoners. Ted on the other hand is upset that Trump quotes Tribe. Ted has a huge problem on his hands here. His campaign is sliding downward in Iowa and the birther issue is starting to stick. Bad move attacking Trump.

“, it seems to me this certainly does not encompass a coherent philosophy any more.”

Because no one will stand up for it and run to the next shiny object before maintaining any integrity.

To tell the truth, I completely disagree with Trump on the deportation idea, it`s a wolf in sheep`s clothing. To do this will require a Juggernaut of federal bureaucracy and in the present climate of federal over reach, I say HELL NO! But he ignores the obvious course to take, enforce the existing laws and pass a few critical new ones, like making it illegal for illegal aliens to get tax funded benefits and financially destroying the employers of illegals with fines and jail time. Pair this with funding of E-Verify and a law making it a federal felony to cheat with the E-Verify system, they`ll all self deport. No need for the new American Gestapo to get the go ahead to practice rounding up patriots by first rounding up illegals.

And if the judge they get is either an originalist or an unethical liberal judge, Cruz will be ruled ineligible.

An originalist won't rule that he's inelgible since Cruz was born a citizen.

As an attorney, I'll put $100 out there that the judges are going to leave this in the hand of the voters. Judges don't want to make political decisions for voters when it comes to elected officials. (Another story when it's about social issues)

Looks like Ted has stopped with his jokey responses. Trump has gotten under his skin and now Ted is lashing out (probably in that nasally whiny voice). Trump is a master manipulator. Now this is what you call jumping the shark.

As an added bonus the Dems can’t say Trump went after Obama’s birth certificate because he’s black. Trump is consistent and raised a valid issue with Ted. Trump tried to help and Cruz lashes out. Sad.

I beg your pardon, there are plenty of Reagan democrats around including several in my own family. Lots of us who were not so extremely young adults in the 1980s are still here, and not senile yet. And there are young democrats who are looking around and waking up, and these are the spiritual heirs of the Reagan democrats!

If you had done the research I wouldn’t need to show you.

James Madison chaired the Committee for the 1795 Act. FACT.

I have posted more than once the article by a INS General Counsel who wrote well respected Immigration treatises. He gives a reasoned and well thought out analysis.

Find it.

And what part of that contradicts one word of my statement? Most are in fact dead. Spiritual whatever is not a Reagan Democrat.

You “believe” he’ll do a better job on trade and the economy, but he has no record whatsoever, only his words - which, over the past few months, are vastly different than his words over the past several years. The more he campaigns, the more he sounds like a New York or Chicago politician and I for one, think we’ve had more than enough of the latter.

I’m sorry to say that I was a Trump supporter and defended him here repeatedly as a capitalist and patriot until the past couple of weeks. No more.

Did you see this awkward 'weirdness' from Cruz's wife?

Scalia has already shown on two instances that he leans toward the requirement of Jus Soli for an NBC

Justice Thomas has said they are evading the Puerto Rico issue.

And yes, you are likely right. The Court isn’t going to touch this

but Tump said the opposite last year. Guess he’ll say what harry reid said when he lied about romney and taxes...he knew it was a lie and he’ll lie to Conservatives to win.

Its all about playing into peoples fantasies not being truthful

It will be interesting to see the next debate.

I’m just disappointed that Fox continues to include obvious losers who just clutter up the conversation.

Is there any real reason for Jeb Bush, Christie or the ghastly Kasich to be included?

An originalist won't rule that he's inelgible since Cruz was born a citizen.

Yes they will, if they understand the simple fact that being born a citizen via law (when, for most of the 19th century, children born overseas were not considered citizens) passed by congress is, by definition, "naturalization," and thus not the same thing as the founder's concept of natural born citizen.

I'll put $100 out there that the judges are going to leave this in the hand of the voters.

You might get your wish anyway since Cruz won't win the nomination. But if he did win, yes, he will be sued and they will take it to court.
