Why isn't Ted Cruz doing better in the polls? What's your opinion? (Vanity)

In every poll I see, Ted Cruz is a distant 4th, sometimes 5th. The guy has a very well organized ground game. He's knowledgable. He acts presidential. So why isn't he doing better in the polls?

I'm interested in opinions.

Because the eneMedia won’t give him the time of day.

Air time is crucial. If the media doesn’t say it, it doesn’t happen.

A lot of people don’t know who he is.

Trump is siphoning the “I’m-Mad-As-Hell” vote away from him.

Trump outshines Cruz in terms of media savvy and appearance issues.

I think Cruz is the better Conservative.

He’s well known on FreeRepublic. He’s either unknown to the rest of America or has been cast in such a bad light by the MSM that the America that has heard of him is turned off by him.

All the media goes out of their way to feature every other candidate BUT Cruz. Smells like fear to me.

I think there are a number of reasons that contribute to not being at the top of the polls. I’m grateful for it...at this point. It’s early and we’ve seen a number of other races where the top guy fizzled quickly. On the flip side, I think Cruz is doing darn good to stay in that top 3-5 consistently. Besides Trump being at the top, we’ve seen a number of them move up and down the scale over these months.

I have been listening to Cruz and I think he is so articulate so understanding of the Constitution and the issues. He really goes up against the establishment. They don’t like him. I love that !

Maybe for 2020? He is young isn’t he?

I just think its not his time yet. Remember Reagan’s story?

He's been demonizes by the left and GOPe forever and the press has always worked against him.
IMO at this point he is (as anyone who donated to him can tell you), aggressively fund-raising for the future IMO.
I see these funds knowingly put aside for future campaigns.

Heck I get several pieces of mail and at least two emails a day from camp Cruz aggressively looking for funds.
He reminds me of those charities where you give something and they hound you relentlessly for years to get more.
Doesn't leave the best taste in my mouth to be honest.

"Uninformed" voters are more informed than they're given credit for. The trade deal, where he came across as thinking he knew better than everyone else then got played by Obama and the dems, hurt him badly. Coupled with his support for massively increasing H1B Visas it puts into question his support of US jobs for US citizens.

Fair or not, it's a factor. I was an original small-donor for Cruz. Don't like that the money was spent on annoying paid phone solicitors (I asked one if she was paid). He still has promise, but the next four years in the US Senate under a President Trump (who will make better deals)is where he can do the most good.

You asked. <^..^>

Cruz is obviously intellectually brilliant. He has government experience. Yet somehow he just “does not connect.” I can’t put it better, it is that subjective. If he becomes the nominee I will vote for him.

He wants to start a war with Russia.

Demonizing the present leader of what's left of the conservatism Christian world, Putin.

GWB hit him viciously and he didn’t fight back.

He lost a great opportunity to hit back hard and earn weeks of free press coverage. The single digits seem about right for him.

I have wondered that also, but am hopeful that more Christian people will realize this may be Americas last chance to stand up and save our country. While Ted isn’t perfect, he is in Christ, and that makes him a brother in the Lord to me. Trump is great and so is Carson but I have questions about their relationship with God. I will be voting on this regard only, a brother in Christ or not.

The truth?

Outside of Free Republic, he's just not connecting with voters.

His voice sounds like Ned Flanders. His tone is sanctimonious. He's always talking down to people. He wears ill-fitting clothes. He's often sweaty. He has a pasty complexion. He looks like Dracula.

Now I understand that none of these superficialities matter to FReepers, but the sad truth is that we are but a minuscule percentage of primary voters.

Cruz seems too much to be trying to argue you into agreeing with him. That rarely works.

Unfortunately, our side has to run against the Democrats and the MSM, which are virtually the same entity.

I don't like it, but (as Rush would say) it is what it is.

Politically, he’s too close to Trump.
He’d be a GREAT VP—then run in ‘24.

Trump is much better than Cruz on issues important to Joe and Jane Sixpack. Jobs, Trade and (illegal) immigration. Plus Trump is viewed as electable, Cruz not so much.
