While campaigning in Iowa, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sat down with BuzzFeed's Another Round, a podcast on race and pop culture, to discuss Black Lives Matter and reparations in a lengthy interview.
As a part of the rapid-fire question round, host Tracy Clayton jokingly asked Clinton if she would be getting a reparation check.
Clinton used the question to pivot to her campaign platform of expanding opportunities.
"Ill tell you what, I think we need to make many more investments in everything from pre-school education to affordable housing, thats my form of trying to give people the chance to be empowered, to make the most out of their god-given potential," Clinton said. "Ill try to get the system to change."
Clinton also talked about how she doesn't want young or budding activists to be discouraged by the sometimes slow pace of change.
"I so admire their passion and their intensity in reacting to what is a terrible, continuing systemic problem of race and justice in America," Clinton said, referring to the Black Lives Matter movement. "Theres no doubt in my mind theyve galvanized opinion across the country and they have given real energy to try to get some changes quickly made like the presidents policing commission has recommended."
She didn't want anyone to "walk away from the hard work it takes" to make changes "because we need them, we need their voices, we need their activism."
"Ive seen, myself, a lot of change has happened. And it matters. The Civil Rights Acts mattered, the Voting Rights Act mattered. But what I think people have learned is there is no way progress continues if there isnt constant pressure," Clinton said.

She will be getting more and more desperate, offering up more and more victim group concessions. In the end, she’ll offer up everything but the kitchen sink to them, never once thinking about any concessions for real Americans.
This is strictly about purchasing votes.
That poll showing Don Trump getting 25% of the black vote must have sent shock waves throughout her headquarters and the DNC.
My #4 was meant for you as well, but your name fell off, as sometimes happens.
We’ve already paid many many times over for our sin of keeping black in slavery; welfare, food stamps, almost free housing, letting them off easily for crimes- not to mention 800,000 killed and one million wounded in the Civil war.
And not caring about the destruction she is causing by throwing out lies and BS just to get elected.
Why isn’t she in prison already?
Typical commie lib. Building her political career using OTHER PEOPLES’ MONEY to give free stuff to the freeloaders.
Any reparations checks should be sent from the Clinton Foundation checking account.
“Almost free housing?” While I worked at the unemployment office, I saw Section 8 recipients getting kickbacks, in addition to not paying any rent.
Well...there you go. Let's throw more money down that rat hole. Since the War on Poverty began under Johnson, over $2 trillion have been spent, but the GAO reported that black poverty is worse now than it was in the 1960's. The problem is that the money was spent to keep these people subservient to big gov't so they can control their votes. (Think of the Johnson quote that's been going around.) Politicians don't want to end poverty for blacks; they want to perpetuate it. Come on...free cell phones for deadbeats...why, other than to buy votes. Sadly, blacks blame everyone but themselves for their plight: The old "I'm a victim" excuse. Sorry, but until I see blacks trying to clean up their own house, I see no reason to keep throwing dollars at a problem they aren't willing to help fix.
$22 trillion, actually.
We already pay “reparations”, it’s called the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit).
It’s called a lot more than that, a thousand laws, programs, state federal and local agencies, affirmative action, welfare, food cards, on and on.
My God! We’ve already spent 22 trillion on this since 1965. And, it is worse now than it was then.
“When will she fully come out for slavery reparations?”
2002.
Been there done that.
She distanced herself from the reparations crowd when Charles Barron let it be know in August of 2002 if they didn’t get reparations for slavery there would be “scorched earth” meaning race riots in every city.
with implications of them being the victims, if a democrat can’t persuade the under achievers and the welfare recipients of society with false promises to give them other people’s hard earned money then they always have vote fraud that will ensure their victory to public office
