The candidates atop the GOP presidential field are ramping up political attacks aimed at Muslims, a move designed to appeal to hardline conservatives. But party elders worry that escalating anti-immigrant rhetoric could cost Republicans the White House in 2016.
The aggressive words, in particular from front-runners Donald Trump and Ben Carson, have exacerbated a widening rift between the GOP's pragmatic and ideological wings as the party tries to avoid losing a third consecutive presidential election.
His relationship with the nation's Hispanic community already strained, Trump vowed on Wednesday to deport any Syrian refugee taken in by the U.S. Most likely would be Muslim, and Trump warned they could be Islamic State militants in disguise....

I am a GOP “elder” and I fully support Trump and Carson’s views on muslims.
The only good muslim is a dead muslim.
ME pockets are Marianas Trench depth and spread across both parties.
This is not a country not to constantly mind your surroundings and to recognize that the normalcy bias cannot be in play anymore. Ozzie and Harriett died a long time ago.
And, the persecution of Christians has begun. It will only get worse.

Yep, the GOPe is worried that their islamic money train could get derailed.

Totally on target. How many others are in their pay? Harvard get money from them as well as Georgetown. Who know how many more. We are hearing about Muslim programing being taught to our children in public schools. If we could follow the money I am sure it would lead back to the Saudis.
The Iranians are the dog that barks, the Saudi’s are the dog that sneaks up on you and bites you in the leg.
Clinton gave the Muslims the red carpet treatment into the White House and gullible George W followed his example.
You can look into the media. I know Fox is partially owned by a Saudi.
And into ports - there are some Arab companies that manage ports in the US.
And into oil - that his probably how the Arabs have so much influence of the Bush famiily.
Certainly, the Saudis will fling a pallet of money at any school book publisher that describes Islam they way they want it described.
But, mostly, it is the anti-Western mindset of the modern Fellow Traveler.
What damage? These “elders” live in the land of nicey nice. I am sure that they have visited some of the Saudi’s yachts as well as their lavish palaces. Money hath charms that soothe the savage breast. And the Saudis have lots of charming money.
They lose because they believe in nothing.
I wish there was some way that we could put some nations if not on an enemy list then on a “sketchy country” list. We are not at war with them but we do not want them messing in our affairs either such as using subtle cultural subversion against us. We have to protect our core beliefs.
Iran=in your face jihad. Saudi Arabia=sneaky jihad.
