Yeah, I don’t get it either.

I see so many people saying “I’d support Cruz if he could win”.

Doggone it he could win if we’d get behind him, and fight.

Alas, it seems I’m being asked again to choose the lesser evil, and I’ll never do it again.

1. TPA
2. Corker Bill “yea” vote
3. H1B visas by 500%

This is what happened to Cruz.

Any income tax is inherently invasive and inefficient as well. The income tax should be eliminated and the feral government constrained to live within constitutional limits. The entire centralist scheme needs to be overturned, and the states and people need to reassert their primacy. As long as the leviathan lives, no man is free.

Bingo!! Return this nation to a true constitutional government—essentially what you favor.

It's because of deductions and credits that the low income get 'refunds' in excess of their tax bills.

They also get refunds if they pay zero in taxes. Figure that one out.

Ah, but let’s say one spent $150k the 1st year to open a small business, but only took in $100k (gross.) Does that person pay tax on $100k?

I probably should amend my previous remark: Very often, the real bugaboo is determination of expenses. In my own case, gross income is fairly easy. “Expenses” can get very complicated, very fast. Welcome to the IRS rules on Depreciation, and the “Depreciation Worksheet”, for example. When is a repair a repair, and when is it a capital expenditure? (I had 3 IRS reps give me 3 different opinions on that one, one time, and it was a relatively “simple” situation.)

I believe we need control on the Federal level for our military, defense, intelligence agencies and the federal highway system. Most everything else could probably be handled by each state. Certainly across the board term limits would help but I would like to see politicians having to either retire or go to work in a business environment with no political connections outside of D.C. when their term was up.

I don’t expect any of this will happen at least in my lifetime.

I don’t support progressive taxation. Flat tax is the way to go.

, the way I understand it, is a flat tax

I don't understand how “1-5-10-15” is flat?

There will be NO refunds under Trump tax plan. If you make only $15,000, you still pay $150.

Well, I agree with you on that. But a system like this, with a 15% top tax rate is a definite improvement. It does away with exorbitant tax rates on large income earners.

It is flat tax within 4 income brackets. It is more fair than what we have now. And the flat tax rates are LOT LOWER than current marginal tax rates.

TPA, and Corker have been explained to my satisfaction by Cruz. The reasons for his vote are there for anyone to see, they make sense, and I have never know Cruz to be dishonest about any issue.

H-1B issue is the exact same position as Trump. If the salary limits are increased, Trump Cruz, and Sessions are all on the same page.
Didn’t you hear Trump’s news conference the day he signed the pledge? He spent 10 minutes of a 30 minute conference extolling the wonderful virtues of LEGAL immigration.

And the fact that any one can compare Conservative bonafides between Cruz and Trump, even with those three non issues after the two plus years that Cruz has spent fighting in the Senate, including now with the PP issue, is laughable.
That requires some chutzpah to claim Trump is MORE conservative than Cruz.

" It really is strange behavior."

Conservative Orthodoxy will have little influence in this election.

If any.

The GOP has so soiled the Conservative bedrock that it is being wholly discarded for a hybrid "America First", nationalist political movement.

Blame the GOP traitors, not those who are rebelling.

I most certainly support giving a break to low income earners. A single mother making $25,000 a year would pay $2500 in income tax with a flat 10% rate. On top of that she would pay $2000 social security & medicare tax. She would be better off going on welfare.

No wonder 94 million adults do not bother to find a job.

Yes, not as evil anyway. :)

But if I had to pick based on this issue, I’d go with Cruz: “I am campaigning on a flat tax that would allow every American to fill out his or her taxes on a post card that allow us to abolish the IRS.”

Yes. In speech, Trump’s all over the place on taxes—insanity. Analyze it, and it looks pretty much like it came from a mind in favor of hard socialism and against savers, new producers and investors.

In politics, it is always the “perception” which is paramount, not the explanation.

I think a flat tax on consumption - a very small percentage - would do the most good for all earners and the economy overall.
