Dr Ben Carson goes left on these issues:

Dr Ben Carson is a fine mine, with integrity. However Carson goes left on these issues:

Allow semi-autos only in remote rural areas.
Says that conservatives that won’t talk about gun control have an “infantile attitude.”
For “socio-economic Affirmative Action.”
Supports raising the minimum wage.
Want “stiff tariffs” to limit trade.
Deportation of any illegals is “moral low ground.” A pathway to citizenship is “the only humane and reasonable thing to do.”
Wants a c r a z y 30% Ethanol Standard. Implies climate change is one justification for that 30% ethanol standard.

Re: “Minimum wage, which acts as a tax, is probably the single most disastrous element in our economy...”

Strongly disagree.

Massive legal immigration has created a massive artificial surplus of low skill labor, which has crushed wages and benefits and job opportunities for America’s poorest home grown workers.

Massive legal immigration has also stifled essential R&D in robotics and other labor saving technologies that should be the natural response to zero population growth in advanced modern societies.

And, massive legal immigration from Third World nations has supplied the Democrat Party with 20 million extra Socialist voters who enthusiastically support the highest minimum wage that is politically possible.

Burning ethanol produces exactly the same CO2 as burning gasoline.

If your implied premise of the same volume ethanol-vs.-gas produces an equal volume of CO2 is true, then that statement cannot be true.

Since ethanol has one-third less energy yield per unit volume, a vehicle burning any amount of ethanol gets less mileage for the same volume at the pump. So a greater volume of it has to be burned to make a vehicle go the same number of miles as gasoline.

So measured by miles driven, ethanol-mix gas produces more CO2 per mile driven.

I prefer the plan as described on my profile page....read it carefully. And we can debate about each item. We need not copy either the Scottish or Canadian or Scandinavian universal healthcare. We can use our own brains.

A universal healthcare for all American citizens based on competition, private companies, and different choice of features based on actual needs. Why should I have to coverage for mammograms & pap smear exams? Why does my wife need coverage for yearly PSA tests? Why do my kids need coverage for routine colonoscopy tests in their 20’s? Why there are no limits on frivolous law suits? Why the litigant is not required to pay for legal costs of defendant when losing the case?

you are viewing all of this through your conservative instincts....Trump’s instincts are not so conservative. THATS the problem.

Cruz’s is indeed a steadfast conservative. But he is stuck in single digits. Unless elections are won, conservative objectives wither on the vine.

Ask some very fine Conservatives such as Goldwater, Palin, Cuccinelli, Todd Akin, Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, Alan West, JD Hayworth, Christine O’Donnell, Richard Mourdock, George Allen, Ken Buck, Doug Hoffman, etc how many laws they have been able to enact.

Carson is not conservative. He was a Democrat until just a couple years ago and has a moderate stance on abortion. Carson voices his opinions on social issues long after other true conservatives weigh in.

How’s this for a dose of reality: Would Carson be any better than the radical muslim now in charge? Or how bout the radical communist/liar hillary? When you are plummeting off of a cliff, it somehow doesn’t seem the right time to demand the perfect rope to grab on to.......I’ll grab onto a wet noodle if it will cushion the fall......

Dr. Carson is low-information candidate imo. His supporters need to get him up to speed on the federal government’s constitutionally liimited power so that he can start working his remedies for the country within the framework of the Constitution.

The answer to an influx of immigrants is NEVER government-forced wage controls which creates high unemployment and kills entry-level jobs for teenagers and those entering the job market.

Federal-government-sponsored and forced minimum wage, union protection, and tonnage of useless dead-end regulations are why business are moving to China and Mexico.

There is NOTHING good about minimum wage. It is a typical unconstitutional, faux-solution from the feds. As usual and as Reagan used to say, government isn’t the solution, government is the problem. All interventionist government can do is create poverty which it is doing as we speak, killing jobs, opportunity, and economic advantage in the U.S.

What is wrong with so-called “conservatives” who don’t trust freedom or the free market which is freedom in action? Our free way of life is what made America the most desirable and wealthiest country on earth before the feds started becoming unconstitutionally activist in the 1900’s.

The Right needs get back to the fundamentals of freedom and the voluntary cooperation of the free market economy which is the ONLY source of economic growth and wealth.

Actually I agree on that point. However I can’t find another candidate who is resonating with voters, AND who has the personna to shake up the entrenched GOPe.

I know first hand the hoops I had to jump through to acquire legal US citizenship. It was a 10 year long hard slog. I was checked for criminal history, knowledge of English & US Constitution and was approved based on my skills working for a large corporation.

And that is why my #1 issue is addressing the invasion of low skilled, welfare dependent, above average crime committing illegals. I can’t think of any other candidate who has dared to utter the word “deport”.

And the 2nd critical issue for me is chronic trade deficits. Again, only Trump is willing to tackle that issue. All others are dependent on their rich donors and the rich donors are happy to exploit cheap labor in China and Mexico.

you are right about the resonation with voters....and to some degree, right about the persona thing.

I don’t think you are right on trade.

“do you prefer the Donald’s “Scottish” plan or his “Canadian” plan?”

Trump is advocating neither of those plans as a solution for the U.S. In fact he explicitly said they would not work in the U.S. in the debate.

Exactly...put him in the category with the huckster and Santorum. At the very least Carson isnt strong enough to even fight McConnel or Bonehead. He may be a nice guy but this is waaaaaaaaaaay him

The only way I could swallow a minimum wage increase would be tied to major tax and regulation cuts that effectively negate the cost — and even then, it’s a bad idea.

Carson supports giving illegal immigrants a path to legalization and eventual citizenship. It’s amnesty. He wants to “seal” the boarders? How? I know that’s just talk! Build the wall or anything else is total BS. He said “share the wealth”. He also said his goals are the same as Al nosoSharpton and praises him. Do we really want a third Obama term?

All good points! In fairness to Carson, he would be 10 times better than Hillary/Sanders alternative and 100 times better than Obama.

But I am sticking with Trump until I see differently. He seems to be the only real chance to change direction of ship.
