Is Trump looking for a vice-president? He talks to Cruz–ex-aide is seen with Carson's right-hand man
The London Daily Mail ^ | August 20, 2015 | Francesca Chambers, White House Correspondent

* Trump's campaign said he has 'cordial' relationships with both men based on 'mutual respect'
* Ex-aide to Trump, Roger Stone says he met with Carson's campaign of his own volition because he thinks the doctor would be a good fit for Trump
* Trump openly praised Cruz and Carson after he was asked about possible running mates, 'They’ve been very supportive of me'
* Cruz and Trump planned to visit the United States' border with Mexico together in July but Senate votes kept the Texas senator in Washington

Leading Republican candidate for the White House Donald Trump hasn't officially begun scouting running mates - the first primary is still six months away.

Two of his 2016 competitors come to mind for the position, however: Ben Carson and Ted Cruz.

Trump's campaign said he has 'cordial' relationships with both men based on 'mutual respect.'

An ex-aide to Trump, Roger Stone, was also seen meeting with Carson's campaign chief Jake Menges yesterday in New York. Stone says he did not set up the meeting at the behest of Trump, however.

Stone told DailyMail.com that he believes in 'citizen action' and met with Menges of his own volition because he thinks Carson would be a good fit on a Trump ticket.

He stressed that the meet-up was 'not authorized' by Trump and he no longer works for the real estate mogul.

'I love him. I love him,' he said, 'but I'm not working for him.'

Trump and Stone parted ways two weeks ago over disagreements about the direction of the campaign. Stone says he resigned. Trump says he was fired. Whatever the case, the end result is that Stone is now a free agent.

'I answer only to myself,' he said today....

If Don Trump announced a running mate and potential cabinet at this stage of the game the primaries might be over before they started.

I don't understand this thinking. We're in pre game warm ups, and people are pointing at the scoreboard. Cruz has yet to even start his ad campaign. There's another debate coming up in September, and there will be some targeting of Trump from THE RIGHT - not from the LEFT or the PERSONAL as done by Fox - but from the right. Let's see what is going to happen.

And I guarantee you that Cruz is not running for VP. Not with a combined 50 million in the bank and a longer conservative track record than DT.

It's who he doesn't talk to....

Ya gotta know the Donald...but they look like good cabinet appointments....Attorney General and Head of some kind of Healthcare....maybe Veteran Affairs.

If Trump picked Cruz or Carson, the rest is history...

No matter who the RATS put up, wouldn’t matter...

I’m not voting for a doctor who used fetal tissue.

Carson. Do not want. Too soft spoken and unproven.

FWIW, two others have been smart enough to not offend Trump. That would be Jindal and Huckabee. I could see Huckabee as Press Secretary. Either has Kasich, but he doesn't count because he's running in the wrong primary.

As far as announcing choices ahead of time, as some suggest, that's a bad idea. 1. It gives the rabid more ammo. and 2. Better to keep them all guessing and behaving.

Wrong! Carson has responded to these type charges by the libs..in that his job - was to perform surgery only. And Carson knew nothing about what happened to fetal tissues after his surgery.

Dr. Carson didn’t use fetal tissue. For God’s sake, he came out and said that never happened, that he’s not in research. Must we let every propaganda hit take root?

And for those of you who think calling Trump a liberal is going to turn off his support, forget it. None of us think he’s the epitome of conservative but he’s a person who wants to do something. How many “conservatives’ have come out with detailed plans on closing the border, deporting illegals, and getting the economy back on track? They can’t because the 2016 slave masters (illegals this time) are also the money masters.

I'm with ya, but he best pick Cruz as his running mate. Otherwise, he's a non-starter for me. Way I see it, Trump/Cruz 2016, Cruz/Carson (/Walker/Palin/etc) 2024. Then? Cruz for SCOTUS in 2033. :D

Yes, they NEED to just get it together, announce their cabinet, and start acting presidential, primaries be damned. It would all be over but the crying from the leftist losers.

Cruz is 44 years old. If he served two terms as an active VP for Trump he would be 50 and could serve two terms as POTUS and STILL retire under 60.

Ted Cruz wants to be POTUS. The easiest way to become POTUS is to send a term or two as VP in a successful administration.

Do the math.

Seriously, when is the last time someone announced their cabinet picks before the Iowa Caucus? Or even after they had the nomination in the bag?
