On This Week, Trump said the controversy had been ginned up by the media and a jealous pack of GOP rivals upset he was leading in the polls.
“This whole thing was brought up be a lot of people that are competing against me currently, that aren’t even registering in the polls, because a lot of people are tired of them,” Trump said, alluding to former Texas Governor Rick Perry, who called for Trump to exit the race following his comments about POWs. “They’re very upset that I’m leading the polls, by a large margin.”

Any sources whether he leaves the lid up? Does he kick dogs? Did he pass a US flag without saluting? Are the tags you’re not supposed to tear off a mattress under penalty of law, still on his mattress? Are the propellants of his hair spray ozone friendly?

I have no problem with your point in that, McCain endured many years as a prisoner of war. But I still can not call every prisoner of war a “war hero”. Bergdahl was also a prisoner of war for many years, but never a war hero.
But Trump actually went along with Luntz that McCain was a war hero because he was captured. Personally I would not have said that. But then I am not running for anything.
I will also agree with you that Trump should avoid saying anything disparaging about McCain or Kerry, both of who served. But then Trump is not a smooth talking professional politician. Expect him to make lots of not so smooth statements. I can live with that so long Trump directs his fire on issues critical to the country such as violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

I served in Vietnam, I am a disabled veteran (not bitter, love my country) and I don’t hold it agains Trump that he was smart enough to not get involved. Once the military industrial complex had made enough money and the public turned against the war we forgot about the blood, lives, and limbs of tens of thousands of American boys and got out until the next money making crisis presented itself... Not cynical, just a history major...

And I say again and again IMO it's important in light of Mexican cartel's declaration that they would get Trump if he did not shut up.
If there is any attempt to harm Mr. Trump or his family and relations I hope he sues the hell out of scores of people using the doctrine of vicarious liability.
At least one successful civil lawsuit against a white supremacist (Tom Metzger) proved that the attacker does not have to be an employee or even a member of the group.. just prove to a jury that the attacker acted in response to the message and the status of the messenger.
.. some like the Mexico-friendly MSM employees, the pro-Mexican McCain and Bush families have great status in Mexico and Mexican drug cartels are full of crazies.
