As the candidates who will qualify for the presidential debate in August begin their preparations, they are going to want to bone up on a range of policy issues and make sure they have coherent answers to hard questions. (Now that Syria is a mess what do we do about it? If a Supreme Court vacancy opens on Day One, who is at the top of your replacement list? Has the president pardoned too few or too many people?) Equally important will be a game plan for neutralizing Donald Trump.
Even before Trump self-destructed on Saturday, we saw candidates like Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), as well as former Texas governor Rick Perry, call out Trump for talking nonsense and for racist language. At the other end of the spectrum, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has been obsequious, slobbering over Trump with praise and refusing to rebuke his racist characterization of immigrants.
Now that Trump has attacked war hero Sen. JohnMcCain (R-Ariz.) and other POWs, those who shrank from criticizing him when he went after Hispanics are revealed to be near-sighted and, in fact, hypocritical. Once you excuse or ignore hatred against one group, you’ve lost the moral authority to knock him when he goes a step too far. Those who defended Trump — or were silent — need to demonstrate they get this....

Yes, I’d say Cruz is in the same boat, and note that he isn’t bashing Trump. In my perfect scenario, Trump stirs the pot, denies Jeb Florida and a lock on the nomination, and steps aside, throwing his support behind Cruz.
I think at that point the GOPe and Rats would combine forces and have Cruz deemed ineligible for the Presidency because he was born in Calgary. A candidate or State that tries to keep him off the ballot is found to have standing, and the question goes to SCOTUS.
I don’t have a lot of faith in how the tyrants in black would rule.
This election will be, "ud chu vill like it".....politically correct, the issues will come after all remarks presumed racist are apologized for. Truth will hence forh be called brash, bullying, causing umbrage among the offended and will not be tolerated!!
Piling on the target de jour is the name of the game....leadership be damned....sophomoric whining and silly juvenile political rhetoric is all the alphabet MSM and Fox News will carry 24/7.
Ted Cruze is about the only adult in this race with another very honest man, Donald Trump...the truth, no matter how it is delivered STINGS....and how refreshing it is!!
These people are faux journalists! Oh, they wanna ask SERIOUS questions of the Republican candidates when they REFUSE to ask SERIOUS questions of Hillary! When they are too FLIPPING scare to ask questions of the Obama Admin.
