Hugh Hewitt: Rubio or Cruz Would Be Hillary's 'Worst Nightmare'

Two Republican candidates would be Hillary Clinton's "worst nightmare" in the 2016 general election, says Hugh Hewitt, a nationally syndicated radio host and author of the new book, "The Queen: The Epic Ambition of Hillary and the Coming Of a Second Clinton Era."

Hewitt told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV that Clinton should "be afraid" of a run against either Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida or Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, two of ten declared GOP candidates.

"Her worst nightmare, in my view? Marco Rubio. Ted Cruz, if he's the nominee. She should not debate [Cruz], he'll kill her," Hewitt said Wednesday. "Sen. Cruz is really set up right now pretty well on the map."

In fact, Hewitt added, Clinton might very well refuse to debate a dynamic candidate like Cruz in the 2016 election.

How would she square that with voters?

"[Richard] Nixon didn't debate in '72. She would say something like, if the Republican Party wants to nominate an irresponsible clone of Barry Goldwater, that's fine, but I'm not going to dignify him. Because he would take her apart muscle and joint," Hewitt said.

Hewitt's book describes Clinton, a former secretary of state, as the most ambitious woman in American history. And he believes she will likely be elected....

I know many will say Hillary would "Lazio" Cruz in some way. Do they think he's never debated a woman before?

Hillary is a scripted robot. Cruz thinks quickly on his feet.

He would eat that woman alive in a debate. (Unless some idiot moderator asks if he can answer in spanish)

Nixon though was already President. Hillary is a tired old Marxist hag with both criminal and ethical issues hanging over her head.

Cruz would destroy anyone on the left in a debate including the biased moderator

Especially Cruz. Cruz--a MASTERFUL debater (after all, he had to make his point for the toughest audience of all, the US Supreme Court)--would use a few choice words to put Hillary Clinton in her place in no time flat.

Cruz would rip her apart. Think of debates.

This is why the media is really wanting a Bob Dole, or Mitt. So they are strongly pushing Jeb or Donald. Jeb and Hillary during a debate would be as boring as the Dole Clinton debates. A joke. They would only be there for the photo ops.

"Hillary is a scripted robot."

And the Late Tim Russert torpedoed her campaign with one question before he passing in the Democrat debate he moderated, of which she looked stunned and was sputtering worse than a Harley with one bad spark plug....

Cruz thinks quickly on his feet.

Because he knows what he's talking about, not regurgitating talking points.

Rubio would be a helpful candidate for Hillary to face, even if her health were good enough for her to make it through the nomination process. Which I doubt. She will likely stroke out.

Rubio’s leftism would produce a maximum of the same electoral votes as McCain got... which is to say, not enough.

Exactly. He doesn't have to "memorize" his current positions and their defenses, let alone the reasons he "evolved" on issues. It shows when politicians are phony.

Rubio or Cruz Would Be Hillary's 'Worst Nightmare'

Two reasonably bright, honest, hard working politicians in Washington? A rare breed, indeed.

In this day and age (this is NOT l972) could she really get away with not debating Ted Cruz?

Would (Donald) Trump consider running as a third party candidate?

I don't think he's going to go [Ross] Perot on us," Hewitt said. "He actually is a patriot and he knows that that would give Hillary the White House."

Best news I've read all day!

Good. I’d like to see her in a wheel chair, drooling and crapping in her diaper about 3 months before Election Day.

Perry? You could go for Rick Perry? Take it from this lifelong Texan, he is an empty-suit, a light-weight. I know he was elected many times in Texas but he is part of the “Good Ol’ Boy” system here in Texas with the big bucks. And, I’m not talking about deer. He’s got the money, and connections, to keep getting the nomination for office and being in a Deep-Red State, and being a Republican, he’s not gonna lose. HOWEVER, he would NOT win Texas in the Primary. Ted Cruz would clean his clock.

Perry is a states righter and so am I. He won’t be great on the border but then neither will any of them unless you go for Trump. I like Perry because he wants to push a lot of this stuff like Educ back to the states where it belongs. I’m not saying he’s my first choice but I think he might be able to beat Hillary.
