Either rap is dead or I have to vote for Ted Cruz now

Either Ted Cruz is hip or rap is dead.

I am not sure which. It has to be one of the two.

A group called We Are Watchmen, a Christian rap group from the Chicago suburb of Westchester, has made what can be loosely described as a “rap paean” to Ted Cruz. It is entitled “Set It On Fire.” It is about four minutes long, and if you listen to it enough times, every ounce of hipness drains from your body and you become Donny Osmond.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

The title is misleading. The gist of the song is that you should vote for Ted Cruz because he will fix the things that are wrong with the country, but it is called “Set It On Fire,” which sounds like Ted Cruz wants to watch the world burn. I know that he is given to telling small children that THE WORLD IS ON FIRE, but he always claims to be the guy putting it out, not igniting it. Already I am confused.....

No wonder they're scared of this song and mock it.

Awesome! This is probably the first rap song I've actually enjoyed.

Being of the "rap flavor, it is more likely to be heard by many who would not normally listen to a conservative message - brilliant!

This pathetic idiot is more concerned with being hip than being right. Perhaps that is a good definition of the Left.

Is this Petri as hip as she imagines or just another angry Ginger lesbian?

Honestly, I thought it would be super lame because I hate rap and because politics and rap do not mix. I actually enjoyed the lyricism because it’s intelligent. I don’t know how my peers will view it, however. After all, I listen to classical music for fun. ;)

The song is also available on Youtube--here.

The video's "dislikes" currently outnumber the "likes," so surf over there and "like" it.

You might like this one, in which politics and rap mix quite well.

With any luck, it's both.

I said, when rap was first on the scene, that the way to kill it was for white people to embrace it.

That’s not really “rap”, it’s “hip-hop”.

Not exactly my preference, but well executed. I guess.

TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT.

The Cruz Campaign slogan is “Reigniting the Promise of America.

Guess the author missed that.
