Why Marco Rubio is Going to Be President ("Cuz he's "attractive, young and Hispanic")
The Huffington Post's College The Blog ^ | May 19, 2015 | David and Jack Cahn

It's early in the campaign cycle, but it's never too early to speculate on who will win in 2016. Though most of my friends are "Ready for Hillary," I am confident that Marco Rubio will be the next president of the United States. Here's why:

Marco Rubio is handsome. The effects of physical looks on presidential elections are well documented. The most famous example was 1960, when John F. Kennedy was perceived by television viewers to have beaten Nixon in their presidential debate and radio listeners said Nixon won. Data confirms the importance of looks. Researchers at Princeton University found that the candidate voted as more competent-looking went on to win in 69% of the gubernatorial races and 72% of the Senate races. A University of California study quantified the effect of attractiveness at a 13% vote swing.

Marco Rubio is a young, handsome, attractive candidate who physically exudes a leader presence. For all the importance of money and policy on the outcome of elections, data seems to indicate that looks count for a whole lot. This will carry Rubio through the primary and help him beat Hilary Clinton in the general election.

Marco Rubio is a genuine conservative. In recent years, the Republican Party has found itself divided between its mainstream camp and its Tea Party element. We saw this stark contrast in the vote swings that dominated the 2012 primary race. Mitt Romney represented the center of the party, but constantly had to vie against contenders on the right - Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, and Newt Gingrich, to name a few - who claimed to be "genuine" conservatives. Rubio has held true to conservative values since he first ran for political office, relying on the strong history of Florida Cubans allying with the Republican Party....

I didn't know we already had colonies on Mars. Or have they both been incommunicado in Antarctica?

Rubio is allegedly Romney’s favorite. That will hook him into the fat cat cash he needs to make a serious run.

The GOPe are running 1,000 candidates now to splinter the vote, keep Cruz down in the polls and later will try to ignore him. What they really don’t want is an upset the apple cart guy like Cruz so they keep on pumping the fake conservative Rubio.

Im not as hard on Rubio as most here but he’s not my first pick for sure. The main object for me is to get Bush kicked out. BUT Florida will be a problem for all of the candidates should Bush win Florida....he will be unstoppable at that time.

Rubio could still come in down the list even if he wins Florida.

Florida has a winner take all system so Cruz, Walker and the rest have almost zero chance. Sad but it is what it is...

Ted Cruz is my first chance. But I’ll vote for Rubio if he runs against Shrillary or any other Dem.

Of course, at this point, I’d vote for Joe the rag picker over any Dem, at this point.

Are these two guys light in the loafers? Talk about gushing like a couple of Valley girls!

I think Rubio looks and sounds like a cute little boy. We don’t need another one in the White House.

Beyond that, he is dead wrong on immigration.

There isn’t going to be a “President Marco” the guy is gaffe prone, supports amnesty, has been treated with kid gloves by the media, and hasn’t even made his first debate appearance where he will be tested by far superior candidates such as, Cruz. For the life of me, I don’t know why this guy is so lauded upon by the majority of pundits, he’s mediocre at best.

Well, if he runs as a Democrat, perhaps "Attractive, young and Hispanic" might be enough to elect him.

Rubio is not my first pick either, but it would be so, so, so delicious if the white old woman (Hillary) who got aced out by the black handsome minority man would now get aced out by the Hispanic handsome minority man.

In other words, the white old woman got once again sidelined by another minority in this case a Hispanic man. That would make me laugh until I die.

This would be delicious beyond description. All the race hustling Hillary has done over the years would turn around and bite her and make her lose to a minority again.

He’s not particularly handsome and he already has a bad comb over.

Mine, too, and me, too! There are some on this board that will not vote for him, though. I don't think the Dems are going to walk on "broken glass" to vote for Hillary, but we cannot afford to have the conservatives sit out the election. I think a great ticket would actually be Rubio/Cruz if Cruz does not win the nomination.

I am concerned with the number of Republicans who are running. If they split the vote so that Jeb wins, we are doomed! I just had to explain to my husband why Lindsay Graham is not POTUS material. He likes his military background, but is not a Freeper so he does not know how awful Graham really is!

I have a real problem with airheads that vote for President like they are voting for American Idol.

If they want to go there, Marco is baby faced, not a good look for a President. To compare him to JFK is an insult to JFK.

If people didn’t learn anything from the last two elections, voting on ethnicity is not a great idea. But again, if they have to go there, Cruz looks more Cuban than Marco does. BIG DEAL! Sheesh!!

Seems so long ago that Rubio stood with Schumer and McCain and the rest of the Gang of Eight, trying to shove down our throats their amnesty betrayal of our homeland.

There is no way I’ll support Rubio for the republicrat nomination, but if he gets it I’ll most likely vote for him on election day to keep a democrat from being elected.

And then I’ll go home and take a shower.
