SCOOP: Ted Cruz Says Stephanopoulos Shouldn’t Moderate Any 2016 Debates
The Federalist ^ | May 14, 2015 | Sean Davis

GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz said today that ABC News anchor and former Clinton White House staffer George Stephanopoulos has no business moderating any 2016 presidential debates.

Cruz was asked in the Senate hallway this afternoon whether Stephanopoulos should host any debates following today’s revelation that he gave $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation without it disclosing it while officially covering the organization for ABC News.

“Of course not,” Cruz responded, according to a transcript provided to The Federalist by one of his campaign communications staffers. “Debates should not be moderated by partisan Democrats who are actively supporting one of the candidates.”

Stephanopoulos announced earlier this afternoon that he does not plan to moderate ABC’s Republican primary debate scheduled to be held in February of 2016 in New Hampshire.

“I won’t moderate that debate,” Stephanopoulos told Politico. “I think I’ve shown that I can moderate debates fairly. That said, I know there have been questions made about moderating debates this year. I want to be sure I don’t deprive viewers of a good debate.”

He did not, however, say whether he planned to moderate any 2016 Democratic primary or general election debates or if he planned to recuse himself from all 2016 campaign coverage due to his apparent conflict of interest.

He can moderate debates fairly??? Really???

Is that what he was doing, when he launched the war on women, by asking that inane question about contraception in the last election cycle????

Ted is right. How could Little Steffi even moderate a Dhimmicrap debate fairly?

Why we do need moderator’s asking questions in debates, why can’t the debaters just question each other. Then you don’t have to worry about moderator bias.

Will Republican candidates refuse to participate in a debate “moderated” by a major donor to Democrat campaigns, foundations, etc.?

If not, what difference does it make?

Of course. Back in the 80s, I fairly split my time between Tawney Kitaen’s apartment and Bobbi Brown’s. No problem.

They should boycott ABC until he’s fired.

It should not be that difficult to do a comprehensive background checks on all the potential “moderators” of the debates. The information learned would also be very useful for Republican candidates when they are interviewed by these people.

In my dreams the debate moderators are Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin.

No - ABC should not host ANY debates (R or D) and Stuffenenvelopes should recuse himself from ALL political coverage for 205 years - a day’s penance for every dollar.

Quite often I think America is made up of people too stupid to continue in the current manner.

In the last election Stephanopoulos solely created the “war on women” issue during a GOP primary debate in a bizarre question to Romney.

Of course he shouldn’t be there. Same goes for Candy Crowley.

Why? So one could entertain us by his own admission while the other threatened being ‘this close’ to leaving the debate?

“Of course not,” Cruz responded, according to a transcript provided to The Federalist by one of his campaign communications staffers. “Debates should not be moderated by partisan Democrats who are actively supporting one of the candidates.”

Some firmly stated clarity for a change. And make no mistake, Cruz's comment goes beyond just the debates. When he says Stepho is a "partisan Democrat", he's also impugning his fitness to serve as a supposedly impartial news host.
