he is a US citizen... but he was also a canadian citizen until recently.

OBVIOUSLY, he’s not a natural born citizen

Well, I’m sure that it will be sorted out. If it turns out that he’s ineligible, I don’t know who to support. Definitely not Bush, not Paul, not Carson, possibly “Wishy-washy” Walker, possibly “I changed my mind” Rubio. I dunno. If Cruz were to have to drop out for any reason, we Conservatives would be, as my Granny used to say, in one mell of a hess.

I don’t want a “giant among men” to be president.

the term ‘settled’ is being tossed around so much, i’d swear there are dem operatives on this thread trying to start a montage

Great example of Marxist projection there, sten!

Look, we get that you don't "get" that Sen Cruz is eligible for POTUS. So, why don't you just let us wallow around in our *ignorance* and avoid the Cruz threads? You'll save yourself a lot of frustration, no doubt ;-)

oh, it’ll be sorted out... by the SCOTUS just after the primaries as EWarren files a case to disqualify him... which will drag until mid october until a verdict is reached. leaving the GOP without a candidate and no momentum

this is how EWarren wins on a walk.

don’t walk into their trap. demand TCruz gets it clarified by the SCOTUS prior to the primaries.... or step down in order to avoid handing it to the dems on a technicality

because i’d prefer to avoid handing EWarren the presidency.

maybe you’re ok with that, i’m not.

Sten, I once worked for attorneys, so I know a few locally who are knowledgeable about constitutional law (and they are not Ivy League graduates). They have told me pretty much the same thing as the Harvard article — that under the law, Ted Cruz is eligible.

Of course, should Ted Cruz become the nominee, the matter will be litigated. No use doing so now since he hasn't been nominated.

But I'm going to guess, as a layman who admittedly doesn't know her butt from a hole in the ground, that based on past issues regarding eligibility, Ted Cruz will be declared eligible. As you know, the eligibility of John McCain and Barry Goldwater came up during their presidential runs. Nothing ever happened. And we all know how the courts ruled when the question was raised about the Kenyan in the White House now.

In fact, I'm going to guess that since courts either ruled favorably on or shied away from deciding against Obama’s eligibility, it's more likely that they would also rule in favor of Ted Cruz. And it won't be a decision based on the law. The courts acted as they did regarding Obama’s eligibility merely because they did not want to be accused of being racist. They may also feel the same pressure regarding Ted Cruz because he is of Hispanic/Latino descent. Not the ideal way to decide the issue — but I would be naive if I thought the courts always rule based on the law.

Ted Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen. He was an American citizen at birth due ti the age and citizenship of his mother.

One has to perform intellectual somersaults in order to assert otherwise.

The courts will affirm the fact that Cruz is an NBC. It's a trivial legal exercise. There will be no doubt, despite any wishful thinking on the deniers' parts.

[OBVIOUSLY, he’s not a natural born citizen]

OBVIOUSLY you did not read all of articles rebutting the calculated accusations you made regarding TED CRUZ last night ON THIS VERY THREAD. Do your homework. We Freepers deal in truth, not agendas.

It gets tiresome going over and over and over an issue with someone who doesn’t want to do the research and ACCEPT THE FACTS.

Which of the two royals you mentioned are American citizens, like Ted’s mother?

If he was never naturalized, he was born an American citizen, thus natural born. If you can produce naturalization documents, then the case is open, but everyone from CATO (who is not anywhere close to lockstep with Cruz) across the spectrum has agreed it’s a non-issue. .

So you wouldn’t have voted for George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln or Ronald Reagan? Interesting.

i know quite a few lawyers myself and we’ve discussed the matter and they agree, the Constitution makes it plain that ‘citizen’ and ‘natural born citizen’ are specifically different things. additionally, the used of the term coupled with the mentions from minor v happersett along with the federalist papers indicating the founders desire to avoid split allegiances and foreign kings assuming the office, show clearly their meaning and intent.

as for 0abama, there has yet to be a single court ruling on the dozens of cases against 0bama eligibility. none of them make it to discovery... as they’ve all been dismissed without any evidence being submitted. (if 0bama submitted that birth certificate even ONCE, he’d be up on felony forgery charges)

From now on, when you bring up this non-issue I’ll refer you to this post. It will save us time responding to you.

P.S. You need to enlarge your circle of lawyers.

oh, i’ve been on the threads. people are pushing their guy regardless of the requirements... and the left is cheering you on the entire way.

it’s a dem trap... and you’re walking into it

unless you think the dems won’t make a stink about it and rail on until it hits the SCOTUS... at which point TCruz is tossed from the ballot.

ok... how about this. please tell me... if prince william and kate came to NYC and she had a kid... would that kid, the future king of england, be eligible to run for POTUS as well?

I’ll settle for a competent president who is not on a mission to alter America away from its ideals of peace, liberty and prosperity.
