Real Clear Politics: 2016 GOP Field Deeper, More Qualified

The nominating process for the 2016 Republican presidential candidate could be fraught with chaos because of the unusually large number of candidates who will likely run, creating real problems for the GOP, which is likely to end up without what many might consider a powerful, unifying nominee, an analysis by Real Clear Politics suggests.

The candidate who does emerge could very likely come from a brokered convention, notes RCP's Sean Trende of possible scenarios.

"I see a race that is largely chaotic. It is one where an unusually large number of candidates have perfectly plausible paths, if not to the nomination, then at least to lengthy runs deep into the balloting process," Trende said.

"This is because 2016 really is the deepest GOP field in a very, very long time. In fact, it isn't even close. To be clear, that doesn't mean the eventual candidate is (or will be) the strongest Republican nominee ever. I think that's unlikely…" he added. "This year, eighth place will probably be a candidate we now see as a legitimate contender for the nomination."(continued)

Not what the party boys want to hear. They want Jebbie or Mittens to surge early, forcing out all the conservatives. Let’s hope this story proves prophetic and Cruz can fight his way through these powder puffs to the nomination.

Looking at it from a brainy statistical viewpoint, the Republican party needs to rid itself of fears about Sarah Palin.

If Sarah Palin does not get accepted by Republican big wigs, the Republican party - and America - are at great risk.

Nonsense. Someone is always pushing for this and it never happens. Won't happen this time either.

It is absolutely despicable what the GOPe has done to Sarah Palin. The backstabbing after she was nominated for VP in 2008, and energizing the Republican base and almost as bad, not letting her address the Republican convention in 2012.

She helps elect Republicans and is a great fund raiser and treated shabbily by the GOPe.

And yet the Establishment wants to pick more of the same.

It’s not just the establishment but the uninformed Republican primary voters like those in TX, MS, TN, and SC who insisted upon Cornball, Cochran, Alexander, and Lovable Lindsey.

“Brokered for Jebbie” if there is a “brokered
convention.
