It's never too early to start playing the "will he or won't he?" game with presidential contenders. For anyone who has ever met Ted Cruz, or listened to the senator speak, I think it's fairly obvious that this guy has some big ambitions. But behind any great man is an even greater staff, which which why some recent hires made by Cruz's campaign suggests he's beefing up with the best and brightest ahead of a presidential run in 2016.
Some recent moves in Senator's Cruz's staff include:
Joel Mowbray, a consultant and Middle East and terrorism expert for the think tank Defense of Democracies has started working as a volunteer consultant for Cruz's office, and according to insiders will end up playing a role on the paid campaign staff.
Nick Muzin, the director of coalitions for the House Republican Conference was hired by Cruz in July to serve as his deputy chief of staff. Already Muzin is transitioning his role working on coalitions building and outreach for the campaign.
Jason Miller, a former advisor to Senator Tom Coburn and Representative Darrell Issa, has been brought on by Cruz to put together a more robust communications operation, according to one insider, and is working primarily in the digital space.
Jeff Roe, founded of Axiom Strategies was hired to work in an organizational advising role this past month. He previously worked on the presidential campaigns of Rick Perry and Mike Huckabee, playing a huge role in their Iowa efforts.
Lauren Lofstrom was also brought on this past month to lead Cruz's national fundraising efforts. She was in charge of fundraising on Rick Perry's 2012 campaign as well.
Chip Roy, Cruz's long time chief of staff, has been consulting for his leadership PAC over the past couple of months, according to financial filings.
In addition to stacking his staff with some of the best political minds Washington has to offer, Cruz has also been seen traveling the country stumping for a bevy of conservative candidates for the midterm elections. He also has a book coming out in 2015, which has only strengthened the chatter surrounding his presidential aspirations.
Of course, Cruz's current staff is still trying to shut down any talk about 2016, claiming the recent hires were natural for any politician with growing national recognition.
We have to build out his political operation to put him in a better position to lead, one Republican told the Washington Times. Theres a desire for leadership, hes out there doing his part and we have to build an organization to support it.
Whatever happened to MarcRubio?
At one time not long ago, it was presumed by many that he would be nominated, and elected as president in 2016 or 2020 if he chose to run. Don’t hear that much anymore, since the Gang of Eights less than successful try at granting amnesty.
Maybe he waits later to campaign. Marc may announce at the last minute, like next Labor Day,
I think Rubio sold his soul in about 6 months after he arrived in DC. Usually it takes about 6 years before many of the most promising go rotten, but he just about set a record.
He hasn’t hired me yet and I work cheap.
Is Cruz hiring the smartest people, or are the smartest people attracted to Ted Cruz?
I dunno but hiring anyone out of the Perry camp isn’t what I’d consider a good move. Maybe they were uncorrupted and the people Perry DIDN’T listen to. I hope.
Time will tell.
The Mombasa MF and his Band of Merry Pranksters are studiously ignoring the bad news and sending out doctored economic reports. Guess they are too busy planning, encouraging, and supporting Negro riots.
My fear is that they are setting the stage for an economic collapse to coincide with the election of 2016 and blaming it squarely on the Republican Congress, which doesn't seem overly concerned as long as their deals are going through across the aisle. Cruz' first order of business is not 2016. It ought to be getting 'our" Congress off its collective and collaborationist ass before this economy circles the bowl.
He got elected and his first act was to try and sell amnesty....nuff said!!!
Ted Cruz was a nobody when he filed to run against one of the most powerful people in Texas politics......in just a few months he had captured the hearts of Texans and wound up clobbering the Speaker of the Texas House. In Texas the house speaker wields a great deal more power than the governor!!!
He'd probably want to check with his mentor first.
This Article is from August 29th. I have no problem with that; I’m just observing that he REALLY DID start early hiring quality people for a 2016 run at the White House. I don’t care if the main stream media does try to “Palinize” him, I’m confident when people listen to this man, he will win them over. He is brilliant. He will not be “gotcha-ed” like my lady, Sarah, was. He’ll make Katie Couric look like an air-head, dumbo who just came in last place in the Miss Hog Wallow contest at the County Fair.

You really need to get that into the hands of the Cruz staffers.
Re: Your Post #12: You’re a little confused. Cruz defeated the Lieutenant Governor, David Dewhurst; not the Speaker of the House. And yes, the Lieutenant Governor, not the Speaker of the House, is the most powerful politician in the State. Just sayin’
You are absolutely correct, mind not working yet!!
Ted Cruz was a nobody when he filed to run against one of the most powerful people in Texas politics......

I understand what your saying and I appreciate you giving Ted Cruz the propers that he deserves. But, he wasn’t a “nobody”; he was Solicitor General, presenting the Government’s cases before the Supreme Court. Ted Cruz has NEVER been a “nobody”. He was an “unknown”, but never a “nobody”.
According to Wikipedia, Energy's responsibilities include "the nation's nuclear weapons program, nuclear reactor production for the United States Navy, energy conservation, energy-related research, radioactive waste disposal, and domestic energy production." See what's last?
Interior, on the other hand, is responsible for "the management and conservation of most federal land and natural resources, and the administration of programs relating to American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, territorial affairs, and insular areas of the United States." Number one is management of federal land. Have Palin work on returning all that federal land back to the states.
Just my opinion...
