When GOP Takes Senate, How & When Will Obama Find Time To Read & Sign 350 Bills?

Posted on 10/28/2014 7:27:08 PM PDT by Cruz_West_Paul2016

Come Mid-January, and hopefully we will have a 54-46 majority in the Senate, then what will Obama do when he has a stack of bills to read and sign over the next few weeks? You have to wonder, will Obama plan a three week vacation come mid/late January to avoid having to sign or veto all of those bills? Maybe spend all of February on fund-raisers? If he tries to stone-wall on this matter, what will congress and the senate do? Take this matter to the Supreme Court? Although "Golfing Weather" is ideal in Florida during the winter months!

Past action is an indication of future results.

So, he will vote "present" and then go out for a round of golf.

Congress, should do what Reid did to Bush by staying in session a little longer so he couldn’t get any recess appointments. Obama would have to either sign or veto the legislation. Or Obama could go play with Reggie or golf or vice versa. Congress could stay in session for possibly 10 working days to cover legislation that passed right before the scheduled recess. So Obama gets ixnay on pocket veto.

He will veto nearly all of them and never read any.

I think in January when the new Congress is seated, all the old legislation will expire with the outgoing Senate. Until then, the Harry Reid dam will still hold back progress.

An automatic veto of a bill that occurs if the president or governor neither signs nor vetoes a bill within ten days of receiving it — as long as the legislature adjourns during that period. If the legislature convenes during that period, the bill will automatically become law. A pocket veto cannot be overridden by the legislature, though the bill can be reintroduced at the next legislative session.

Easy! Schedule votes in such a way that important bills get voted on more than 10 days before and adjournment. There are tons of bills that have stacked up from the House this session. If we get a senate majority, the House could pass these same bills again quickly at the beginning of the session. The senate could then pass these bills quickly if we adopt the same rules adopted by the senate Democrats this session.

I am praying for 54/46 !! then we know there is a god.

Definitely needed to offset an "Independent" who votes with the 'rats.

All Obama needs are loose shoes and a weekend at Camp David with Reggie.

Two out of three ought to do it.

I'm all for Mitch beating "Half his Age" Grimes.

But that's no reason he should be Majority Leader, just because it's his turn!

Reid controls the Senate calendar until January. The Senate approves nominations. Perhaps Reid will take the Senate out of session in mid December so Obama can make hundreds of recess appointments.

Don't forget the continuing resolution due by 12/15.
