Ratchet Down the RINO Rhetoric (Syrup of ipecac not needed)
American Thinker ^ | October 12, 2014 | Doris O'Brien

Posted on 10/12/2014 1:03:31 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The presidential election is two years distant, but that hasn’t stopped some in the GOP from already deciding who would make “acceptable” Republican candidates and who would not, based on their perceived degree of fidelity to conservative principles. The arbiters have all but hung a sign in the 2016 window of opportunity that reads, NO RINOS NEED APPLY.

It seems almost unconscionable for this assessment to be ballyhooed even as we find ourselves in the midst of a crucial election to determine the leadership of the U.S. Senate, and the direction of America’s future. Certainly, this would seem to be a time for Republicans to pull together and concentrate on that immediate objective, even if it means encouraging the election of moderates in states where more right-leaning candidates would not likely have a chance of success.

My last statement will be disputed by those who regard themselves as the only “true” Republicans and who harbor the unshakable sentiment that the majority of Americans would elect a “real conservative” if only he or she were the GOP standard bearer.

On what basis do political litmus tests assay whether a Republican candidate’s conservative core is gold or dross?(continued)

The thing is, they aren’t “RINOs”, this is truly what the Republican Party is.

Reagan was the outlier.

Harding & Coolidge shrank the government, the last ones to do so. Not even Reagan was able to do that. We need men like those two today.

These people never quit!

Hey establishment! If liberals are 40% of the electorate and moderates are 20%, how do you win an election if you win the 20% but you alienate the other 40%??? Idiots.

NO. MO. RINOS.

The GOPe and their useful idiot propagandists are CLEARLY very afraid of the progress that constitutional conservatives and the Tea Party are making in terms of increasing the percentage of the Republican elected officials who ARE constitutional conservatives. And they are beyond frightened of Ted Cruz; in fact they are TERRIFIED OF TED CRUZ. They are sensing that conservatives are coalescing around Cruz as our candidate for 2016. And if conservatives (which make up the MAJORITY of the GOP base) unite around a single candidate, they will be unstoppable in having a true conservative presidential candidate in 2016.

Let continue uniting around Ted Cruz and ignore the conservative PRETENDERS such as Rubio and Huckabee. The GOPe strategy of splitting the conservative vote between multiple candidates will then fail with a certainty.

Why is having conservative principles called a "litmus test?" You either stand for your beliefs, or you don'.t

Why the Hell would a Republican support the goals of the opposition?

American Thinker has become establishment.

Well, when those who are “most pure” get to define the “principles” we get goofy stuff like calls for a “Gold only” currency, or weird claims about “concentration camps” that make real conservatives look as goofy as the whackjobs who have, for decades, run around bleating about such nonsense.

Dear narses,

I can remember when people were called goofy for talking about media bias, the real goals of the sodomite activists, leftism in academia, and an out-of-control national debt.

I thought maybe 80-85% of college professors were leftards. Then they did a study, and it turned out that the real number was over 95%. Yet I got the eye roll for saying it was a problem.

What would be so bad about getting back on the gold standard? And if the gov hasn’t actually constructed concentration camps, I guaran-damn-tee you they have a plan.

Well, have at it then.

But do not expect to get taken seriously while wanting a dollar that bops around the way gold does. Or claiming that the gubmint has concentration camps for us ready to go.

There are plenty of real, meaningful conservative issues that we all ought to be agreed on - like school choice, like flat or flatter tax rates, better defense polices, privatized social security, medicare and unemployment.

But if nutcase conspiracy theories get your engine rolling, OK, but do NOT expect me to embrace them, or favor the cynical morons who promote them.

“But do not expect to get taken seriously while wanting a dollar that bops around the way gold does.”

The price of gold used to be steady, pegged at $32 per ounce. It could be again.

“Or claiming that the gubmint has concentration camps for us ready to go.”

I didn’t really make that claim, did I? But I do stand by the claim that there are plans, to be pulled out at perceived need.

“flat or flatter tax rates, better defense polices, privatized social security, medicare, and unemployment.”

I’m not sure how you privatize unemployment.

“But if nutcase conspiracy theories get your engine rolling, OK”

Come on, really? Did I advance any nutcase conspiracy theories?
