George P. Bush, Jeb Bush's son and Republican candidate for Texas land commissioner, said that in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is just a "nominal" cost to taxpayers.
Speaking at The Texas Tribune Festival on Friday evening, Bush said that until someone can present a "sensible alternative" to the Texas's version of DREAM Act, he would support the the law that Texas Governor Rick Perry signed in 2001.
Bush said in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is just "a nominal cost from an economic perspective" for the state of Texas.
Bush also suggested that in-state tuition for illegal immigrants should be indexed. For example, illegal immigrants who start in kindergarten will receive 100 percent coverage while those who start from the 5th grade will get 50 percent of their benefits taken from taxpayers. Illegal immigrants who have lived in Texas for at least three years and have a high school diploma qualify for in-state tuition under the 2001 law Perry signed....

I’m not sure he knows what “nominal” means.
Exactly. I don't care if it costs a 'pittance' -- it is just flat out wrong. Not only are illegals breaking the law by being in this Country (which also sticks in my craw) - they are getting benefits not offered to citizens of the United States. The Government Aristocrats have no concept of right or wrong. They will considered themselves royalty - and immune to the concerns of the unwashed - until they get lopped down.
pffttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!
Define ‘nominal’ Georgie.
Another slap in the face to US citizens
He sounds like a liberal Democrat. A sheep in wolves clothing.
Don’t ask him to define things.
He things being a teach for one year in Florida qualifies him to dictate education policy here.

Bush’s are garbage.
Whee!!! It’s fun to spend other people’s money! Whee!
Define nominal Georgie.”
Not coming out of his pocket.
All these “NOMINAL” costs eventually add up to costs that are in no way NOMINAL!
anarcho tyranny
where the lawbreakers are given priveleges
and law-abiding citizens are treated like garbage
See tagline
FUJB!! Amnesty pimps need not apply!!
If it’s nominal, he should state how much it is.
That governments are deliberately obscuring, actively hiding even, the education-related costs (including things like subsidized) of illegal children says that it ISNT “nominal” at all.
But we can’t even have that discussion because we aren’t permitted to know what the costs are. Convienient.
Plain ignoring them would be a sensible alternative to “DREAM.”
No George P. Bush vote from me. I’m looking forward this November to leaving my ballot for land commissioner blank. Heck, maybe I should even vote for the Dem. Nah, I’ve never voted for a single Dem in my entire voting life. I won’t do that. But I’ll be leaving the ballot blank for that office, along with most others.
Very, very few candidates get my vote these days. I have to know for a fact (at very least) that they are unequivocally against amnesty and unequivocally against homo-marriage. And even then, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t automatically trust them when they say so. I miss the days when I could at least maintain a generic trust in the GOP, and not look upon the Party as a nest of backstabbing vipers.
Another Freeper said it best - that one of Reagan's worst mistakes was rescuing the Bush name from political obscurity after Bush Sr. lost his campaign for the GOP Presidential nomination.
It is not like it is the people’s money. /s
bump
He sounds like Gov Perry.
George P. Bush, Jeb Bush’s son and Republican candidate for Texas land commissioner, said that in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is just a “nominal” cost to taxpayers.
Well then his stance on illegal immigration should be the same right. A “nominal” cost.
Another Bush, another moderate democrat lite.
Are the Bush’s going to be as unridable as
the Clinton’s? To the statist who run this country, a
Jeb or Hillary makes no different so that’s most likely
what our choice is going to be.
