Influential Republicans in early presidential primary states believe New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is poised to once again become a frontrunner for the party’s 2016 nomination, following a news report that federal scrutiny of a bridge-closing scandal has not implicated him.

“If he had been found in the wrong, he would have been irreparably damaged,” said Matt Moore, chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. “This is hugely helpful.”

The GOP needs to find somebody to run for president who doesn’t have the hots for Slick Willie’s wife and who WILL NOT say on national TV just before the election, “Hillary will make a great president”.

If Santorum and Newt had dropped out, who would have won?

Only Newt, Rick and Mitt won States.

Fatso Christie represents Romney and RomneyCARE.

The GOP is the most treasonous, lying bed of skunks
with the frosting of Boehner on top.

To HELL with Christie.

I live in the intermountain west, I have my own particular attitudes (freedom, anti-corruption) and I smell “easterner” all over Christie, and that means “big city Democrat.”

His behavior, his flaunting of power is not Republican. He and his staff acted like eastern Democrats drunk on power. Corruption, intimidation, getting even with your rivals, personal revenge, that kind of thug thinking we see presently in the Chicago White House.

I will never vote for him. God help the Republican party if they are stupid enough to put him forward, because it will undermine their efforts in the next election. Millions of us will never, ever, vote for that man.

Big Mistake, Republicans. Do not nominate Christie.

It would actually be what took place in 1980 with Reagan and 1964 with Goldwater.

Yes, Christie will be the frontrunner. With 20-25% of the GOP primary vote.

It's like that Twilight Zone episode with the used car lot salesman shoving one lousy rust bucket after another in your face. "Oh? Ya don't like Jeb? Well, yer gonna LOVE Mitt! What's that? No? Oh, well! Here's Christy!"

“Chris Christie” and “run” should never appear in the same sentence.

"Only good thing about NJ Fats is that he will not be the mild mannered nice guy moderate from Massachusetts. The debates between Christy & Hillary should be fireworks."

Oh, please. He's just a blowhard with people he thinks he can intimidate. With Hillary, he'll be deferential. And if he spots Bruce Springsteen in the audience, he'll burst into tears.

If Newt -OR- Santorum dropped out, Mitt would have lost.
No unity among conservatives. Too much ego.

I certainly do not want a mild mannered Mitt-clone in debates with Hillary. I would like to see someone who can counter punch.
