Santorum fundraises off Palin praise
The Politico ^ | December 2, 2011 | Maggie Haberman

Rick Santorum, who picked up a key pastor's endorsement yesterday, capped off the evening with some praise from Sarah Palin - and now he's fundraising off it.

In an email to supporters, Santorum listed up high Palin's quote on Sean Hannity's Fox News show last night: “If voters start shifting gears and deciding they want ideological consistency, then they’re going to start paying attention to say, Rick Santorum.”

Most of the email is below. But Santorum, who has been working Iowa the hardest throughout the year on a basic retail level, is looking to try to consolidate support, and kind words from Palin and the endorsement from Pastor Cary Gordon, who has a large church and is a member of the Family Leader board, could only help:

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said that last night on Fox News about me, and I wanted to make sure you heard about it as well....

Vote for Eddie Haskell! er...Rick Santorum!

Seriously though, if he were to leapfrog well....everyone and be the frontrunner? First I’d pass out from shock and when I woke up I’d be leaping on that bandwagon so fast the horses would have whiplash!

As a Pennsylvania native, I always liked Santorum, and was heavily disappointed by his endorsement of Specter. FWIW, I think he’s by far the most underrated candidate in the 2012 GOP field.

I always liked the guy.

If he jumped out front I would be peaches with that.

My man is going to win this thing through attrition. Cain's done, only 5 or 6 more candidates to go before January.

Now, here is a true conservative. For all those people who are compromising on Newt or Romney, they should think about Santorum. For a life of me, I never understood why we kept going from one candidate to another, when we have a solid conservative with a good legislature experience and comes from an important state which has a good chance of flipping in November 2012

Well, if anyone told me six months ago that Newt Gingrich, of all people and with all his history, would be frontrunner today, I’d assume they might be an escapee from the funny-farm. They might have just as well predicted toe-tapper Larry Craig were frontrunner.

Seriously, I’m starting to think I’ve somehow entered that old Bizarro-World from Superman comics.

Now he just needs to knock off Jon Huntsman, Buddy Roemer and Fred Karger and he’s golden!!

So was Toomey, but look at which of the two is an ex-Senator now.

Not his fault - 2006 was the year from Hell.

Rick absolutely deserves more support than he gets. I threw my money and support behind Herman Cain because it looked like he was gaining traction while Rick was busy spinning his wheels. Now, with the Cain Train about the be derailed, I can only shake my head in disbelief.

Perry, Bachmann, Cain, and now Newt have all been the anti-Romney at some point. It would put a smile on my face if Rick had his own last-minute surge, but I know it won’t happen.

We’re going to get a RINO again. I just know it.

Where were all these Santorum backers in 2008 when he ran for re-election in the Senate in 2008? They bailed on him when Specter endorsed him.

Fred Karger is a gay rights activist. I don’t think he’s going to surge any time soon.

“Next week, YOU are the front runner okay??”

I cannot run for POTUS as I sexually harrased a jelly donut 30 years ago. And again 20 years ago. And I was in a room once where someone was smoking pot. I never got the pipe passed my way but I did get a “contact high.” You see, I’ve SINNED! I have so many skeletons.....I once farted and blamed the dog for crying out loud!

No, until I learn to walk upon the surface of the Potomac, I do not have any business running for the highest office in the land.

(I hate this political season sarcasm)

I am with you on that.... Great conservative, spot on with his positions.

I didn't care for the Sphincter endorsement, but I understood it. For the record, I donated and voted for Pat anyway because I can't stand Snarlin.

I really couldn't care less who the establishment thinks is the most electable... I am voting for the person that best represents me and that person is Santorum.

F the MSM

Again Sarah Palin praised Rick Santorum for being the consistent conservative ! Late surge for Rick Santorum cannot be ruled out ! I will be very happy if it happens

Thanks to Sarah for the Santorum bump. I figure his time is coming after the Iowa cauci, where he's spent lots of time. Reportedly, Newt's doing well, so look for a Gingerich/Santorum 1-2 finish. Rick will get his time in the sun and grab lots of Cain votes, Bachman votes, etc.

Not much baggage with Santorum, and fantastic conservative ratings. Debates well, stands up for conservatism very well and unapologetically. He'll be charged with nothing worse than being a real conservative and all that entails. He was in the Senate's Leadership when he was probably almost forced to back Specter over Toomey, since that's the guy the rest of R leadership supported.

I maintain he's been slow to rise to the top because he's not been a "happy warrior"....more of an unhappy warrior. He's come off as very serious.

Smile, Rick....have some fun with this. we'd be in good hands with Rick in charge.
