'Worse than Vietnam'

A funny thing happened to Gov. Gray Davis' effort to paint GOP rival Bill Simon as an extremist nut bag.

Davis opened his mouth.

This is what he told the San Diego Union-Tribune editorial board last week.

Davis said of the energy crisis: "This is like a war. This is worse than being in Vietnam. This is a full-out war against me."

Just curious. Did Davis serve in Vietnam?

Just for fun, Simon might try this for a campaign slogan: "Not insane."

LOL....or: "Not Davis."

Oh hell, yes. You can't see any of his campaign commercials without constantly being reminded of it - he won the Bronze Star, don'cha know!

"Worse than Vietnam?" "A full-out war against me?" Did somebody steal Capt. Queeg's strawberries?

Wow.
I am floored that the San Francisco Chronicle published this.
Davis is McCrazier than McCrazy himself.

Then again, Davis might have had more allies if he had spent less time blaming the problem on Washington, courts, regulators and power companies. Everyone but himself.

And there you have it. Classic liberal externalization of the problem, total lack of responsibility. If our party is the "Stupid" party...theirs is the "Whining" party.

Is this davis swine a baby boomer? His refrain sounds odiferously like that of baby boomer poster boy bill cliton: "IT'S AL ABOUT ME!"

"I'll give Davis credit for this: When he finally dealt with the problem, Davis mitigated what could have been a devastating blow to California, and perhaps the national economy."

This will be "translated" by the Davis campaign into:

The Union-Tribune credits Governor Davis for saving the national economy by dealing with a problem which "could have been a devastating blow to California."

Davis is losing it. Sheesh...he needs to get a grip. I hope he loses BIG TIME in November. I can't believe he wants applause for his atrocious handling of the 'energy crisis.' What a loon.

Did Davis serve in Vietnam?

Applying the Belsiles Statistical Method to the service records of prominent American politicians, we conclude that there was no Vietnam War.

Someone forgot to mention that to those Americans whose names are etched on the stone wall in D.C.

Asked about the "worse than Vietnam" statement, Davis press secretary Steven Maviglio responded, "The governor's office was in a bunker at the time. We were getting shot at by congressional committees, courts, consumer groups, the left, the right, the generators, the utilities. There were no allies in this fight."

Good God...This reminds me of the lyrics of that old David Bowie tune that was the theme from Cat People: "Putting out fires with gasoline!"

I saw a guy try to do that to an engine fire on the side of the highway two summers ago... He was using a WD-40 spray-can instead of gasoline, but it's easily as flammable. He sprayed just before I could scream with the window down. He burned his sweater and singed his hair and eyebrows, but the hood of the car took most of the fireball.

Davis's Bronze Star was awarded for merit, not heroism. I'm not sure what he did to earn it but it may have involved mostly harrowing paper cuts and pencil pushing.

Davis is a socialist and has a basic misunderstanding of how capitalism works. The shortage was caused because Davis forced the utilities to sell electricity below cost. They quickly ran out of money and couldn't pay their suppliers. The suppliers then withheld product until payment, in advance. The whole supply/demand problem was artifically caused by Davis's mismanagement and socialist hatred of capitalism.

Thanks for the ping.

This morning I caught the end of a discussion on 560, the Lee Rodgers and Mel Morgan show.

The person who was being interviewed said the same thing I have been saying for months. I did not get his name as these comments were his close re Davis's mental breakdown with these editors.

The two main things that saved us from more blackouts, were not due to Fascist Davis:

First of all the recession caused by the tech crash, the power shortages and high electric bills and the rapid increase in gasoline prices, closed a lot of businesses or put them on lower open hours. This cut down on the need for electricity due to the early and hard hitting Kali recession.

Second: Very low temps in the California areas and in particuliar in the Valley and S. California helped to keep the lights on. Not anything that Herr Davis did!

I feel that Fascist Davis is a big blame in our crashing economy, and so by trashing our economy and causing a recession. Fascist Davis did help to keep the power on. We just need some good conservative word smiths to work on this and develop some catchy phrase.

I can hardly believe this appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Word of his insanity may be spreading.

I love the allusion to Capt. Queeg. That fits Davis perfectly. He is borderline loony, a control-freak, a corrupt governor who spends more time fundraising and shaking down businesses than PREVENTING crises from becoming crises.

He cost taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars over the next decade because of his inaction, delay and panic. Had he acted when the first sign of an energy problem existed, our CHILDREN would not be shouldering this debt!

Down with Davis! Go Simon!
