What the Hell Happened? (FBI Shoots Eagle Scout, then shuts up.
WBAL Baltimore - Ron Smith's page ^ | March 4, 2002 | Ron Smith

The shooting of a 20-year-old Anne Arundel County man, by an FBI agent Friday evening screams for explanation, yet there isn't one given us. How come?

Joseph Charles Schultz of Orchard Beach was shot in the face with a round from an M4 assault rifle after the car in which he was riding, driven by his 16-year-old girlfriend, was pulled over on Fort Smallwood Road near Marley Neck Boulevard by FBI plainclothes agents in unmarked cars. He's in serious condition, wondering why representatives of the federal government so grievously injured him.

We do know the G-Men were looking for a bank robbery suspect. We don't know anything more, though we can assume the stop that resulted in the shooting was a case of mistaken identity. The FBI and local law enforcement officials have simply refused to discuss any of the details.

They wouldn't comment yesterday on how this mistake happened, why Krissy Harkum?s car was targeted, or what bank robbery was involved in the incident. They won't say who the FBI agent was or what his status is after the shooting.

The Baltimore Sun account this morning also reported that neither the FBI nor Anne Arundel County police could say how long the investigation into this incident will take.

Was it an accident? Did the rifle-toting agent who did the shooting have any reason to pull the trigger? Did he (or she) accidentally discharge the weapon? Was the wounding of Mr. Schultz an accident, an unfortunate response to some movement he might have made, or a crime?

Maybe some day we'll have a better idea, maybe not. The FBI says it won't comment as long as the investigation continues. Or, I would maintain, until they can figure out some ?plausible deniability.? Local cops are held to a high standard of accountability for misconduct, while any number of cases in recent years, such as the bloody end to the siege of the Branch Davidians in Waco and the killing of Randy Weaver's wife and son at Ruby Ridge, both by FBI assault teams, have tended to fuel suspicions that federal agents can do to us whatever they damned well please.

Who knows, they might conclude that the wounding of this Eagle Scout was just another case of collateral damage in the war on terrorism. We eagerly await some answers.

"....the typical scene where half of the unidentified armed men were yelling "get your hands up" and the other half were yelling "get out of the car". Your choice which half gets to shoot you so it's bound to be your fault...."

Well said.

If you are ever stopped by the police (especially at night) put your hands on the dashboard, and keep them in plain sight unless and until you are told do otherwisep. And don't say anything "smart alec".

I've also read/heard that he was told to get out of the car. That's hard to do without unbuckling your seat belt. (My God, the kid had his seat belt on!).

"You can hold everyone of us responsible as much as you can hold yourself responsible."

When the good and law abiding _________ [Muslims, law enforcement officers, democrats, etc.] finally stand together and speak out loudly against the hatred, violence and corruption in their midst, then we can discuss the unfairness of generalities.

Good tip. In fact, if one wants to be even more common-sensical, every person should immediately drop prone to the floor with arms and legs spread whenever they see anyone approach them in any way.

That's no guarantee. If you survive, they're just as likely to send you to jail for 30 years (like they did to Joseph Salvati), even if they know you're innocent.

You got that one right.

"Rogue agency" -- nah, a whole federal culture of non-responsibility. Calling it "irresponsibility" is too active -- implies a certain volition, a certain esprit. It's far more passive than that -- it's more ant-colony-like than man-like. No one wants to take responsibility, 'cept in the Reno-esque sense of mere intonation of the words.

Anybody who takes responsibility is ostracized, isolated and put in a harmless position. Managers can not afford to have people under them who take responsibility."

Someone on Ron's program (might have been the girl's father) said that some of this "whooping it up" shows up on video tape from one of the Baltimore TV stations.

Any way someone can get a link to this video?

With this constant, multiple threads per day vilifying -- demonizing -- law enforcement

Examples, please. I recollect lotsa threads where corrupt and or evil actions of individual Feds are criticized, and plenty where people call for the abolition of specific bureaucracies like ATF or DEA - but where are the threads vilifying law enforcement itself?

Looks like the Liberal/ACLU/Libertarian anti-cop orgy is in full swing. Just like I predicted way back in reply #24.

This is supposed to be a conservative forum.

And that translates to no criticism when an episode like this travesty happens?

With this constant, multiple threads per day vilifying -- demonizing -- law enforcement, this forum is beginning to sound like a reunion of the Manson family.

The seemingly constant, daily occurance of such incidents happening across the nation seems to roughly parallel the posting of same. The Manson reference is perplexing. Wouldn't a Capone or Dillinger analogy be more fitting?

What's next? People scrawling in red letters Death to the piggies all over their posts?

I see you wanted to be the first to start the ball rolling on that idea. You even go to the trouble of actually using red text. Interesting.

Someone want to post all the lyrics to this:

Why didn't you? They're right there on the site that you provided the link for.

I'll give you that one because I want to make a point. But I know many of you would probably be happier putting up the lyrics to Helter Skelter (or maybe Sexy Sadie) but you're on your own for that.

Okay, ya lost me completely here. No idea what was flowing through your mind here. None at all. Here's one that you may enjoy, however. Earsplittenloudenboomer.

My suggestion: get some rest.

You have it all wrong JA.

The Fibbie involved was approaching a known member of a Right Wing ParaMilitary Organization which routinely practices discrimination against homosexuals.

The 'agent' involved had no choice but to completely disregard all known rules of firearms safety and approach him with a loaded weapon, pointed at his face, with his finger on the trigger.

This Right Wing Homophobe Whacko Kid must have twitched or something, so the Fibbie in question was perfectly justified in blowing his face off and then dancing around while his buddies stood on his girlfriends neck.

Chalk up another one for the good guys.

See how easy it is?

The FBI is a group of murderers. Maybe that's why they are "demonized".

I think this bears repeating. For God's sake. Who is running the FBI?

I believe his name is John Ashcroft. And he has been begging for more power and received it. By the way, nothing at all will come of this. Nothing.

"Then let the good cops stop standing shoulder -to-shoulder with the bad cops."

I had an interesting experience about 15 years ago in a county south of here. I was defending someone where the arresting officer had hurt him pretty bad (the officer didn't know the suspect had an open septic wound on his leg and did not intend to seriously hurt him).

Serving and retired officers in that county were giving me information in confidence because the hick department in question had an especially bad reputation, and they wanted it cleaned up. But then I tripped over a state Attorney General investigation of the same department as one of their informants told them some of the officers there were selling informant id's to narcotics traffickers. Scared the hell out of me, but we agreed to stay out of each others' way.

So the good officers in my area do police the bad ones. Feds are different.

Just the side effects of being under martial law.

Brian Christine was an eagle scout and when falsely accused, the satanists in the court system decided to crush him without legal recourse.  He had his children removed, his parental rights terminated, the last child taken while Ruth Christine gave birth in shackles before the beast took that child just like Revelation 12.

It had all happened before to David and Rebecca Corneau [Fr: "horn" as in blow the trumpet in warning!] in Gulagachusetts as the sodomites take over the nation and good is called evil and evil good.

Just the side effects of a nation no longer under God.  Just the preview of a Holocaust coming and too few paying attention.
