If you go to the following link it will give the history. The followers are referred to as pagan Arab tribes.

I bookmarked the link and will look it over later. They probably were Arab and pagan at one point in time, but when? 500 AD? 300 AD? 50 AD??? Also, we need to look and the past history of both Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims, they may not have the exact same histories. I hate to say good muslim, bad muslim, but it would appear that Shi'ite muslims are decent people. At least the ones I knew were. Course, they were living here in the states at the time so whose to say how they might treat 'infidels' in their own country, especially if that country were under sharia law.

The early groups of say 50AD evolved in time, and one of them became the extreme cult we see today. As someone pointed out earlier, doing away with these peons only helps a little, its the clerics that are calling for sharia law, and they are the head of the hydra. jmo

Probably already said a zillion times on Free Republic, but most of these people you're talking about are barbarians because they're backwards, not because they're Muslim. They may even be backwards partially because of their religion, but I believe time will bear out that not all Muslims are barbarians, and simply being Muslim does not make one a barbarian. Just like murders in the name of Christianity have declined sharply over the past five hundred years, the same will happen in the Muslim world in time as modern justice and law make their way through Asia.

That being said, it makes a lot of sense to look out for backwards mother#@$#@ from other nations and plan to deal with them just like you would in certain parts of the United States with some of our own uncivilized countrymen.

I used to agree with this assessment, based upon my personal acquaintances with individual Muslims. But the stats have finally beaten down my personal prejudices. There's too strong a correlation between Islam and violent behavior. It cuts across races, cultures and geography. For example: Filipino Muslims are racially identical to the Christians, but their average demeanor is worlds apart. Consider European Muslims (in the Balkans). Why are they so different from other Europeans?

I know for a fact that individual Muslims can be the best people on earth. But I can't escape the conclusion that Muslim societies are, almost without exception, the worst on earth, almost as if they exerted a perverting influence on the people in their midst.

I know an 80 year old man who was an ex-SS troooper, and he is decent. When you think about it, the law of averages guarantees that some individual Nazis were actually good men. But Nazism as a whole was wholly without redeeming features. I suspect this is the same with Islam. There are indivually worthy Muslims, but Islam as a whole is condemning itself daily, by its behavior, by its dysfunction and by its brutality. I'd like to think well of all religions, but Islam is really making me stretch.

There are two things that the media is keeping quiet about: that he was decapitated and that the video shows him being killed (not just a stabbed body).

But that woman on trial in Houston who killed her kids, now there's a savage. And Ken Lay (who lives 3 traffic lights away from me), there's a heartless bastard.

If it wasn't for the media and their frontpage scorecard, we'd never know who the bad guys are and just how evil they can be.

Muslims like Farrakan, Mnfumi, Rashad, and all the Black Muslims that I have left out. Who's side will they be on when and if we are attacked within our borders?

Seems like the terrorists make widespread use of computers (people have been seized with laptops that carried attack plans, abandoned houses have had PCs with more attack plans, they use cybercafes and email accounts to correspond, they shift cell phone # usage so they can't be traced), they learn to fly planes, they train in elaborate manuevers and video the exercises. What makes you think that these people are somehow backwards?

It's better to watch them rather than be the victim in one. I think everyone should see what these people are about. Beheadings of Christians by the Muslims in Indonesia is going on at a very high rate ---we need to know ---it's not going to stop with Indonesians and Jews, they go on and behead all Americans if they can.

I wonder when we will see an increase in people learning personal self-defense. Not necessarily commando style "how to take a man down" training, but sufficient knowledge as has been offered in protection from rape classes, etc.

Learning that it is okay to gouge someone's eyes out when they've got you in a hold, how to leverage your body off of theirs to make them unstable...

People have the notion that in a plane suddenly taken hostage, they will rise up and put down these trained mercenaries. It's a valiant concept but they are trained and many of us are not. To strike is better than nothing but to be trained in how to strike is even better.

As I say, these people have trained for resistance and will use knives. There are things we can do to counter their plans (and being prepared is one of them). These aren't the garden variety thugs who hold a knife at a person to get $20; a thug who may stab or slash at someone if the money is too small or to inhibit a witness from talking; these are dedicated terrorists/thugs who are prepared to kill a man in a horrible manner.

We need to accept the fact that they are dedicated enough to try to kill us. After accepting this fact, we need to do all that we can to prevent them from getting their way in a confrontation (i.e., they don't get to kill us).

Yes.

And considering that we keep hearing about discovery of videos of rehersals for attacks on parades, official gatherings, and public events, the absence of acknowledgement of something this horrific is deafening.

The existence of something like this being on the internet offers an alternative to the established press circuits.

I have not watched this clip. I downloaded it and started to (partly so I would know what the opening frame looked like) but soon closed the window.

I may watch it at a later time. I did not want to watch the 9/11 footage as it unreeled but I did. I did not tape it because I never wanted to see it again but regret not doing so. I did pick up the NT Times for the day so I could remember just what happened that day (there were a number of photos of the attrocities).

The recent history of 9/11 has been whitewashed. This from a media that will show countless photos of lynchings now that we are in Black Heritage Month.

The media is not resistent to showing footage and photos of inhumanity, carnage, and brutality; they are just selective on when they do so.

Well, looks like animals are animals and the country of origin doesn't matter much. Chechnya, Pakistan, whatever. So sorry to have predicted this....

The Yates case, while shocking and horrific, is like many homocides: a murder case tied to family or friends. I don't know if there are national implications in this case but at this point I don't understand why it is a national news story.

The Pearl case deals with a journalist for a national publication, who was investigating groups tied to activities that threatened our country. He was kidnapped while in another country and killed brutally on camera.

To say that he is dead doesn't go far enough in describing what happened.

Having to repeatedly hear that Andrea Yates killed her kids doesn't change my day one way or the other (except maybe to bring me down a little bit). To hear that she chased her kids through the house doesn't improve the facts of the story. To hear that blood was on the bedsheet where she laid her childrens' bodies doesn't add to the story either.

So why do we hear all of the gory details in her case but not in Pearl's when journalists, businessmen, and tourists in foreign countries could all be subject to such brutality?

I seem to recall hearing a boast that they intended to use the framework of our society against us.

As each incident is raised to high level overview scrutiny, the prosecution costs rise and the efforts are tied up in prosecution. If they flood our courts with high profile cases, then they can overload our system and overburden our taxpayers.

They also play off of the "innocent until proven guilty", "we want to be released until the trial date is set", etc.. They are in our country illegally, not being evicted by an INS that was politicized.

Even the Christian edict of "turn the other cheek" could spell out our doom.

They know this and see it all as a sign of weakness.

Having done extensive research on this, I can tell you that it is part of their Koran for one thing ( something about smite off their heads) and also one source I found lists a Russian saying that it is an old pagan belief - removing the head keeps the victim from pursuing you in the afterlife. Not that these people would have pagan beliefs interspersed in their religion. Nah! LOL.

I recall a claim that we should cut off Osama's head if the body is ever located. This would be more to demoralize the enemy than to drain the evil lifeforce out of this snake.
