You just have to laugh at these people who think the Campaign Finance bill will stop corruption......
Only honest people stop corruption
So, the giddiness is on display as the 218th signature is applied to the discharge petition in the house to force a vote on campaign finance......but it took a year to get those signatures because no one wants this bill.....not GOP, not democrats, and now they have forced the vote, and it won't pass, and McCain's folly will finially be put to death.

And the media will never stop crying big crocodile tears, as if they don't have enough power already.
To: The Wizard
Even if this gets struck down by the Supreme Court, the political capital that conservatives lose as a result of the media bombardment will be just horendous. This is horrible news, ideed.

To: The Wizard
that should read: no way. This is the end of this bill

DEFEAT this bill in Congress. Don't let it get to the Senate, or make Bush veto it. How to we defeat this piece of crap? Count me in.
If this piece of crap ever becomes law, they might as well ban elections.

no way this is the end of campaign finance That's just it! This is ONLY the beginning. To me, this is the most important topic on FR today. Too bad it's not getting more attention.

This bill will die a natural death in the house, as the democrats don't want it either

et tu oldvike......you ain't kidding

But.........according to Daschole the Founding Fathers said controversial issues require a supermajority to pass. that means this would require 357 votes. Anyone think for a minute Hasert has the balls or the brains to call Tommy boys bluff on this?

They get enough campaign "donations" from the right people, they would pass a resolution declaring "Earth is Flat". They probably won't pass it, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I do believe that, but very few people with money back this bill.....indeed, people with money don't
To: oldvike
Agreed. Bush will have to use his political capital to defend freedom of political speech this time.
