AUSTIN, Texas -- The intensified drive to draw Hispanic voters to the Republican Party isn't a voluntary mission of political correctness, but a matter of sheer necessity at the ballot box.

Worried that legions of campaign workers across the country can't speak the fastest-growing language of political importance, the Republican National Committee is sending key workers to intense Spanish language classes. For up to two weeks, GOP officials from selected states will immerse themselves in vocabulary and conversation at the Berlitz Language School in Washington.

Bump

What I've noticed on numerous occassions, is that those "Conservatives" who support bilingualism and a destruction of American culture are in fact globalists, multinationalists, big business men, benefit as a result of hiring Illegal Aliens, are Illegal Aliens, themselves, or they are of an ethnic group that is swamping America, many of which who have no plans to assimilate.

Ray Charles can see this. This is very clear and those that deny this have an obvious agenda that lacks America's best interest.

Yes, for the most part. Though North Carolina is mostly domestic, despite the fact that a lot of illegals live there. Florida's growth is majority domestic, though not by much. In terms of California, the overwhelming majority of the growth has come from immigration, at least half of it illegal. In terms of Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan, over half of their growth is due to immigration, much of it illegal. With Texas, roughly 60-65% of its growth is the result of immigration, much of it illegal.

These are the facts.

The problem arises when, as you have pointed out here, you speak to me in Spanish and EXPECT me to understand you. If you are trying to point out that I don't speak Spanish then fine...

No, why do you think "people"/American citizens expect you to "understand"? Why do you think they care? What is wrong with the Jews... continuing traditions in a free land? Why can't the Chinese cook home recipies and speak native language regardless of the fact that they are American citizens? A friens of mine escaped Mejico 3 times before actually lasting here. He eventually sold his first business to Pillsbury before moving onto to create a second, every bit as successful. I met him in a hallway where he was speaking to an associate in spanish.

unrooted, transnational elitists and globalist, plutocratic utopians.

I am not any of these things. ;^)

I tended to understand the differences between these countries, partially from their differing forms of government. Most of them have not been democracies or oriented towards liberty.

I think that the social policies of America make it conducive for people to come here and slack, living off the taxpayers. This is not to say that immigration should be a free for all, it certainly should not. I just don't think the problem with assimilation can be attributed only to the fact of the immigrants heritage.

Surely there are some communities in America that are heavily populated with German immigrants, right?

Selbstverständlich!

But, as my grandparents have always said, "Speak English! You're in America!"

I can not for the life of me understand why a natural born citizen wouldn't understand English.

I come from Cajun country, and all of my older relatives speak English as a second language, if they speak it at all; they all speak French. My grandmother was born in the United States and barely speaks English; she learned a little when my mother started school. Her husband begrudgingly learned it when he started having English-speaking grandkids. My great-grandmother, also American-born, refused to speak English, although I suspect she knew it.

At the courthouse in my parents' hometown, the judge confers with local counsel in French. Although it's not as prevalant now, any good politician could speak French. Many radio stations have French programming, and many have an hour or so on the weekend of Cajun music. No one makes a big deal out of this; I don't see why Spanish is so different.

In a couple of years we can say good-bye to Texas as we once knew it.

Texas has been a grab bag of cultures ever since Cabeza de Vaca crawled up the beach in his undershorts. That isn't going to change. Texans of Mexican (etc.) ancestry are as Euro-American as anybody. We all get along pretty well here in the Lone Star State; if you want to see what the future is going to look like, this is it.

¡Como Texas, es no hay otro!

"Democrats hope to keep the skepticism alive, pointing out that the Republican Party is not traditionally friendly to Hispanic causes"

And just what would those "causes" be that democrats pander to?

Your post is completely accurate, although it will make an inviting target for the Mayflower Compact crowd.

Just think, without all of these influencing cultures, we wouldn't have Six Flags Over Texas!

I believe you. My Italian grandfather and Hungarian grandmother almost certainly had this same attitude with their kids.

If an American politician were dumb enough to start talking in German, every liberal in America would be the first ones to drop a load.
